Will negative interest become a reality in Singapore?. One will need to pay the bank interest for putting money inside.

With the recent swiber thingy and now o and g counters mostly tanking, what will be the exposure for local banks if the drop in oil price persist. It's been 1 to 1.5 years since oil price collapse....maybe the o and g companies that has reserve, is also being depleted as the low price grinds on.......

Understand that local banks are becoming very risk averse and not lending that readily......

Is the high revenue and good profits for the local banks days are over?. Or it's just the beginning of things that will start to unravel. Perhaps loading on local banks shares is not such a sure bet after all moving forward.........

why would banks lower interest rates when they need money?if they are losing money in O&G investments they would be raising interest rates desperately trying to get people to deposit more money to maintain capital solvency and operating expenditures.

dont worry lah, banks are the last thing to go bust in the country,if anything they will be begging the MAS to open the printing press and ur SGD will become toilet paper and confetti before u know it.

All the banks charge $2/mth monthly charge for accounts with balances <$500 for ages already, so that's effectively a negative interest rate for alot of the poorer people.
