Chitchat Is SR Nathan Well Liked?

PAP wants us to believe that SR Nathan is well liked. Perhaps he is well liked by PAP.

I have seen him many times walking along East Coast beach when he was President. He normally wears a wind breaker and a hat. He walked with his head down perhaps he didnt want to make eye contact with Singaporean joggers and got ignored. I have seen many Singaporeans jogged by him and ignored him but nodded to his security guard. SR Nathan knew that he was not well liked when Singaporeans ignored him in public

SR Nathan may be a $4m a year President. But what did he do for Singaporeans when he was President from 1999 to 2011 and so many Singaporeans were suffering?

SR Nathan was a rich President but to sell that he is well liked is wayang.

Perhaps the well liked Presidents were OTC and WKW.

Will the pap also say that TT is a well liked President?

The pap can try to sell an idea but that does not mean that what the pap sells is the truth.

A man who earns $4m of tax payers' money without doing anything for Singaporeans cant be well liked!

He is the world most expensive president.
He was a walk-over president.
He was paid over $40 millions for 10 years service living in Istana and enjoyed travel 1st class.
His job scope is shaking hand, cut ribbon waving to public.

If he carry on the unfinished business of President Ong, continue asking for the accounts. He could have easily clock 12 years & the public only have 40 years more to go. The current President will knock off another few years & soon the public will finally know the answer after much long waiting. The next incoming President have to sent a clear message to Govt, if they have found to misused public funds, they will be held liable even if they have step down from their post. There is no running away from it, think Yang-yin.

To the common man it may not be apparent but he is certainly was the laughing stock of the politically astute. The Govt increased the pay of the President substantially I think twice during his tenure not because he was good in the role but to address the glaring issue that no one in terms of quality came forward. The existing system remuneration system then was not worth the while to campaign and run for the Presidency. The fact that Ong Teng Cheong only managed to 6 out of ten votes against a guy who refused to campaign and the guy got 4 out of 10 votes was telling.

Looks like the money finally did attract more people in 2011.

The beneficiary of a badly planned office I guess must be his son as it allowed him to participate in a joint venture with Mahathir's son in the Oil and Gas industry.

After OTC, the pap realised that it can have another righteous President. The PAP wants a yes-man like SRN or TT to be President.

What Singaporeans need is a good President not a yes-man like SRN or TT

Out of 6 pages and more than one hundred postings in the other thread, roughly 80% wish he is dead and some wishing him to stay in bed longer with curry oozing out of his back. The only consolation is some would be happier if a Public Holiday is declared.

Of course he is well-liked. The PAPzis anointed him president and prevented any real competition, and 70% of Singaporeans then went on to vote for that same PAPzi government.

On the evidence, Mr SR ($4m per year) Nathan was LOVED to bits.

If Shit Times can loudly proclaimed itself to be the most well-read paper in Singapore, they can easily glorify every Tom Dick and Harry loved by PAP? If Istana has a dog or cat, I am sure its passing will also get equal glory if PAP wanted it to be. This is Sillypore, a one party state, doing as it pleases. Prata was the only president that was "uncontested" when he was elected. How can anyone respect that? For some reason, Andrew Kuan, CFO for Jurong Town Corporation was disqualified because he was not found suitable. hahahaha. And prata man was?
