He was a make- believed hero. The terrorists were already disarmed before Nathan and his gang took over and the risk was minimal. The only person whom I think deserved a medal was the driver of the mini bus who drove the hostages and terrorists to police HQ and then to the airport because the terrorists were still armed during that stage.

If Nathan truly really "served" Singapore and put the nation before self ( as the PAP government and PAP controlled MSM would have us believe) than what about the huge pay packet he received from us, the tax payers, for 12 years? The fainting incident at the National Day Rally and the passing of Nathan occurred unusually close to one another. Perhaps LHL should take some time to reflect on his actions and his life. Electorally he might have engineered the system so that the PAP will be invincible for the next 20 years. What however happens when life's journey comes to an end? Will he follow in the footsteps of his father? The funeral was magnificent but somehow LKY did not seem to be at peace. A man who is at peace does not ask his daughter to bring him to a jurisdiction where assisted suicide is legal.

It was not only sad but Nathan and his tenure became rather comical and became the subject of much ridicule. He getting his daughter that position was the talk of the entire civil service and he has only himself to blame. Even a PSC scholar made a mockery of him and he was given gentle rap on the knuckles. At least Philip Yeo threatened to sue.
