Stomper Kelvin was having a meal at a foodcourt in Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) at 12.40pm when a rat that got stuck in a glue trap fell from the ceiling, right in front of him.

The 37-year-old IT manager lost his appetite at the sight, and took photos and videos of the incident, which he sent ot Stomp.

The video shows the rat struggling in front of a kiosk machine, but no one notices it as the trap looks like a piece of cardboard.

A man eventually steps on the trap to kill the rat, and removes the trap.

An NTUC Foodfare spokesman told The New Paper:

"NTUC Foodfare has diligently enforced stringent pest control guidelines and measures for all our food establishments.

"Other than having our appointed pest controllers inspect and carry out proactive preventive measures fortnightly, rat traps are an effective part of our pest control strategy.

"It is unfortunate that one of the ceiling traps was dislodged and we have since reminded our pest control agency to ensure that they secure them firmly."

This is how screw-up Sinkapore is. NTUC doesn't even bother to take ownership of the issue. Just blame the contractor. They paid cheap for the services and got crap service.

Sinkee should learn to fight back on bad service. Sue NTUC Foodfare.

Thanks to kelvin the polis have finally napped the elusive rat after islandwide hunting for the past year. This is the rat who ratted on them on young ben's suicide.

The traffic polis have confirmed that they hv brought initial charges of illegal crossing against the rat. NEA meanwhile eill file charg es of littering n tampering with anti rodent devices, an unknown charge that carries $5000 max fine or 1 yr jail or both.

MOH will investigate if the rat is responsible for recent spike in dengue n. Immigration also checking if the degree holder possess a legal document.

I think most people are indifferent to rats and other rodents. SPCA would be unwilling to help fight for the rat. Poor animal! Treated so inhumanely.

Cheers!

In case anybody has forgotten, rats carry DISEASE. "Rodents" and "Food court" should not be in the same sentence at all. One shouldn't have to think about them, presence or absence. WTF are our highly paid government agencies doing ? Seriously.

I do not know if the NEA knows the extent of this problem. Rats are EVERYWHERE. And I mean everywhere, except probably the Istana, Parliament House and Government offices. Because these are the only people who seem unaware. I rarely use hyperbole, but this is really shocking. In a densely populated centre like Singapore, disease carrying agents and contagion must be taken seriously. There is no sign of urgency.
