SINGAPORE - Singtel will grant its staff two extra days of leave each year to attend SkillsFuture courses, the telco announced on Monday (July 4).
This is in support of the government initiative which aims to spur the country's economic growth through building a competitive workforce through lifelong learning and the mastery of skills, it added.
Over 10,000 staff across Singtel and NCS, a subsidiary of the group, are expected to benefit from the additional leave.
"At Singtel, we operate in a dynamic industry that is constantly changing. More than ever, we believe in the importance of equipping our staff with the necessary skills and capabilities to support our digital ventures and the government's efforts to transform Singapore into a Smart Nation," said Ms Aileen Tan, Singtel's Group Chief Human Resources Officer.

"By giving our staff two days of leave to pursue new skills, we hope to encourage them to manage their professional development more proactively."
Singtel said it has also organised roadshows where employees can familiarise themselves with SkillsFuture courses and credits, attend talks and link up with educational providers.
There are also plans to organise a week-long annual Singtel Learning Fiesta, which will invite well-known keynote speakers and host more than 120 mini workshops and lectures.
These courses cover of a variety of leadership, technical, personal development and lifestyle topics, the telco said.
