SINGAPORE - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will investigate an altercation between one of its enforcement officers and a motorist at a taxi stand near Yio Chu Kang MRT station on June 23.

In a video posted on social media, the male officer was seen arguing with the car driver before he yanked open the car door.

A woman who filmed the heated argument then stepped in to remind the officer that he was "working for the Government" and should not behave in such a manner.


In a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday (July 3) evening, the LTA apologised for the incident and said it "does not condone such unprofessional behaviour in our enforcement officers".

"We have also reminded our enforcement officers and traffic wardens that they need to discharge their duties with care and professionalism," the statement added.

LTA does not condone such unprofessional behaviour in our enforcement officers, and will investigate the incident. We have also reminded our enforcement officers and traffic wardens that they need to discharge their duties with care and professionalism.



The LTA's statement came after the video was posted on Facebook last Saturday (July 2) afternoon by user Tong Bock Toh. The short clip has since been viewed about 21,000 times, garnering close to 500 shares.

It showed the officer and the car driver exchanging words in dialect before the woman intervened to diffuse the situation.

The officer can be heard telling the woman in English: "He wants to hammer me, ask him come out."

Last November, LTA enforcement officer Tan Hock Guan was filmed fighting with an Uber driver at the Bugis Junction taxi stand after an argument.

Tan, 51, was later jailed for a day and fined a total of $2,000.

Is LTA a BS organisation?

So the driver can threaten to hammer LTA officer but LTA officer must be polite to such barbarian? Btw guess the nationality and race of such driver? Don't assume Spore plate car means sporean.

This would not have happened had the Govt listened to LKY.

A few years ago, LTA wanted to go independent and employ their own LTA enforcement officers rather than to depend on Traffic Police. Everything was prepared including approval for the Scheme of Service, Salary structure etc.

A few weeks before implementation of the Scheme, someone mentioned it to Minister Mentor LKY.

LKY almost blew his top and called it a silly idea !!!! Traffic Police should be the ones to enforce Traffic laws and not some meter maid types.

The Govt did a 180 degree turn and shelved the idea, only to revive it when LKY became too sick physically to go through all the Govt decisions. This time, the new Scheme was approved as it meant saving lots of Govt expenditure. Parking fines etc should see LTA make a tidy profit. The Dishonourable Son gave his final blessings.......

Now we are stuck with lowly paid contracted staff working as Enforcement officers without the Police powers, sufficient intelligence or the required stature to handle the car owning class......

LKY was right....... they should have listened to him.....
