A “crippled” beggar in northwest China has been exposed as a fraud in an online video that has quickly gone viral.
Boy stowaway caught after flying from China to Dubai to ‘become beggar’
The video shows the beggar wheeling himself around in a trolley, asking for hand-outs on a street in the city of Altay, Xinjiang, according to a report posted on People’s Daily’s WeChat account on Sunday.
The man’s legs appeared to have been amputated.
But a passer-by, convinced that the beggar was faking his disability, pulled off the latter’s trousers to expose his legs tucked into his underwear.
