Man, Brexit. So sorry everyone. I mean, what were we thinking? It seemed like a great idea at the time. But now we look at the years of political unrest and global financial turmoil we just unleashed on the rest of the world, and we're starting to think maybe it wasn't such a hot idea.
I mean, we knew David Cameron threatened to resign if we all voted "Leave," but none of us thought he'd actually go ahead and do it. To be honest, as this voter told the BBC, we didn't actually think our votes would, like, count.

This guy's not the only one. I think this woman did a good job explaining how we all feel when she told ITV earlier today we'd do anything for do-over.

1 man 100000 vote. Don't need to line up, election considered by 1 person!

Re: LKY is right again! Brixit!

I agree with you completely.

Too bad we have lost his visions.

Singapore is being led by blind men now.

you are contradicting youself.
first u said it had great vision
next u said ah loong the PM and his team are blind.
if it had great vision , then it would not have let ah loong be PM

Re: Brexit: DPM Tharman have spoken

The latter will ALWAYS have the "bigger" voice because in any (human) society the poor, the disenfranchised and the have-nots will always form the majority.

I'm just stating the obvious...

Despite having a bigger voice, they remain the poor, disenfranchised and have nots.

I too am stating the obvious. But If it's all so damned obvious, then what the hell is going on with civilisation???

...looks like we're finally at the end of the beginning...

Re: Lee Hsien Loong warn Sinkies not to follow Brexit Populist Disaster

The EU brought about a situation where just about anybody could take a short train ride and become "British". Millions of muslims have already done so. The problem is that they took the journey without any intention of adopting the culture of their hosts. Their aim from day one was to take over. If this is allowed to continue, all the bloodshed of the 2 world wars will have come to nought.

true. there's a concerted strategy among muslims, not just extremists, to take over the western world by first behaving like economic refugees, then setting up madrasahs, schooling their kids in these "schools", isolating themselves from the society that foolishly takes them in, enacting their own districts and sharia law, and eventually turning toxic with infiltration by extremist imams or a so called "moderate" public figure getting radicalized.

of all places in california, they pick an obscure town called lodi, redneck locale, to insert their islamic infiltration strategy. that was back in 2005. and the town has literally exploded with more muslims moving in from pakistan and the middle east. it's a long term strategy. their plan is to infiltrate and populate these small towns, heartland of america, and turn them into muslim strongholds. then declare them islamic territories and bastions of muslim faith when critical mass is reached.

Ambassador-at-Large Bilahari Kausikan also weighed in on the Brexit vote.

“It isn’t often you see a country commit suicide before your eyes,” said Mr Bilahari to Channel NewsAsia.
“We are also witnessing the tragically irrational consequences of western democracy. The UK is only an example of the dysfunctionality of a system taken to extremes," he added.

AMASSADOR?????!!!! This guy has no idea what diplomacy is. Is he on a million bucks p.a. as well?

Saw this on a twitter thread explaining why Brexit.

Profits are privatised but costs are socialised.

Either that or it is the work of Putin and his oligarchs conducting asymmetric warfare on the western world.

Re: Brexit: DPM Tharman have spoken

You either did not read his whole message or did not understand it. Its far from narrow minded or bias. Its actually an objective observation and insightful. And the message is also crystal clear. Its obvious that the message is meant not only for ordinary citizens but for his PAP colleagues including those in the cabinet. Its basically a warning. Compare that with the message that PM, Bilahari Kausikan and Tommy Koh sent out. The latter 3 painted the negatives of the exit but did not highlight the causes for the majority of Brtis to go for the exit. Its a first world nation and they are much better educated so why did they go down this path. Tharman messages covers that.

Here is what he is saying
- "Those doing well in their jobs and incomes voting to stay; those who felt they’ve been losing out voted to leave" does this comment not resonate with PMETs and locals not part of the Singapore's economic pie
- "But to tackle it, the politics of the centre must stay connected to the challenges that ordinary people face" - what do up think this means?
- "address their need for jobs and security, and a balance in immigration that preserves a sense of identity." - surely you must at least grasp this?
- " A growing disaffection with the establishment.
- "A weakening of trust and consensus in society, and of the centre in politics."
- "Tackling this without turning inward, and weakening jobs and society further, is the central challenge everywhere." - note the use of the word "further".

Note the points above are all his words.

PM, Bilahari, Tommy etc did not even come close. Anyone in cabinet including the PM will know that the message is for him, the cabinet, the establishment and the PAP / PA machinery.

In summary, he is saying that it is pointless growing the economic pie if we lose our identity, do not in include everyone in society to enjoy that pie etc. Note his warning on immigration. Also more damning is the lost of trust in the establishment by the people. The Brits decided to sacrifice the larger economic pie to regain their identity and reclaim their country from the politicians in which they have lost trust with. All this is mirrored in Singapore and should be obvious.

2 Singapore leaders issued a comment on the same issue within 24 hrs, one the PM and the other the DPM. It does not take much to figure out who is the idiot between the two.

I think sinkies in general cannot read between the lines even if you told them straight in the face. That includes many here.

Yes, you are right. I suspect that lot also do not read thru. The thing that caught my eye was the title that he chose - "Divided we Leave" I knew that it was going to rather revealing.
