I dun think many would have expected Bailly or Henrikh to be wearing the colors of United. We should avoid at all cost the Galacticos path as it will be a huge drain on resources. Besides it doesn't guarantee any titles.

Better to let Mou decide what he wants and only he knows how he'll shape the team in the coming season. If they get Pogba which I very much doubt, it could spell the end for Rooney or Rashford. My guess is he'll use Rooney, Rashford and Ibra to duke it out for the strikers role. Mou wants competition in all key areas and chances are we'll have a large pool of players to select.

The players I think who are likely to be shown the door this season or next are Basti,Herrera,Mata, Carrick(it will be his last for sure), Blind, Ashley Young, Valencia and quite possibly Rojo.

Players who definitely had fitness issues for the large part of last season were Basti,Young, Rojo and Rooney. These 4 will find the going tough with Mou.

I just hope Pogba chooses not to return. He's a wonderful player, nice to have but he has already said that Barca or Real will be his preferred destination. It's easier to play with top players and less taxing in league where only two to three teams dominate.

Well REAL or Barca will come for him if not now but sometime in the future. If REAL chooses to match Utd's offer for the player including wages, it will certainly stir the hornet's nest at the Bernabeu and many of the players will be unhappy over $$$$. Pogba is only 23 and Mou probably knows all too well how that could unsettle the team. Kroos,Modric , Isco and the whole lot will find themselves down the pecking order. Unless Florentino sells some of these players to raise much needed cash and assuage battered egos, I can't see REAL going for Pogba. As long as Pogba doesn't end up at Barca, Florentino knows he will still have a second bite at the cherry sometime in the future.

My question to Mou is why bother to buy a player who has his head and heart with the Spanish giants.

Gallego, can't disagree on Pogba. Gbp100k, c'mon that's over rated.
And his maturity still a question?
Looks like spring cleaning's imminent for characters mentioned

Har, pre season friendlies no need to read a lot into it. Last season or so, someone won all their pre season with 3-5-2 and the rest we know.

Maybe they're trying to get rid of the pound as quickly as they can before it depreciates further.

Once again, why join a team that won't be playing Champions League?

The short answer to that is both player and agent wants $$$$. For the transfer figure that's been bandied about, Raiola could earn millions. Player gets a bump in wages and both will be happy.

Look at it this way, if they don't spend on players, the amount is gonna line Glazer pockets. It ain't going into our CPF.

I rather not be some manager who stinge and last the trophy 10 15 years ago.

Yup, that's one way of looking at it but it opens up a whole new can of worms.

1. It sets a precedent that will have repercussions on talented youths coming through the academy. If you try hard enough and get the 'right agent', you'll be able to realize riches within a short space of time. I can't recall any 23 year old footballer earning as much as 200-250K pounds per week in Europe or anywhere else.

2.Carrick and Ibra replacement is on the cards. Methinks it's better to keep your powder dry rather than splash all of it in one season. It may be tv plus sponsors money but at the rate of expenditure, it's simply not sustainable. Other selling clubs would demand even more from United from hereon. It could lead to a two tier pricing system where the top British clubs will have to pay way in excess of valuation.

3.The cheque book manager will likely ask for more cash next season if he fails to land the EPL or FA Cup. It's the easy way out for managers who want to spend their way to success rather than develop young talent.

4. Assuming Pogba signs a 5 year contract, it will cost the club between 30-33 million pounds per year. The losses may be huge if the player decides not to extend his contract by the third year. How much did we lose on Di Maria again??

Pogba is a very good player but there are other talents out there and pound for pound,he's not in the same class as Di Maria or others for that matter. He'll do a Di Maria in 3 years or at a time the manager gets the sack whichever comes first. At least Man City has the good sense of telling the player and agent to bugger off when they came calling.

Like the player Ranieri bought-Mendy. A good bargain and a more than able replacement for the outgoing Kante.

Unfortunately Man U is being run like a business otherwise Mourinho won't be hired and Giggs will be installed as the manager. Or hell , we still have David the small team Moyes. Zlatan won't be signed for sure.
100m for Pogba - sells shirts, sell tickets. And if they win the title or Europa league which they have no excuse not to if all the stars are in, the euphoria and feel good is back again.

For them winning back the title is the priority - youth dev ok it is but something else more pressing.

Stock price will soar, glazers will glee. If Mourinho is indeed sacked or implode after three years -hey at least we taste the title.

It's not correct but it's the reality.

Also if you are Man U or any big BPL club , immediately the price is inflated 30%.

United agree terms with Pogba agent, will bid €120m next week

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Pogba's agent which will see the player earn €13.5m a year. The club have set up a meeting with Juventus next week to make an official bid.

Paul Pogba has distanced himself from Madrid in the last few days. Manchester United have accepted the exorbitant figures proposed by both Juventus and the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, and have reached an agreement with the French midfielder that’ll complicate things for the player’s other suitors (principally Chelseaas well Real Madrid).

Under the agreement, Pogba will earn
€13.5 million a year and United are also willing to meet Juve’s €120m asking price – a fee that would make him the most expensive player in history. Add €25m worth of commission for Raiola and you can see why Los Blancos consider the quantities needed to make Pogba a galáctico as “insane”.

Pogba the last piece of Mou's puzzle

Since landing at Old Trafford, Mourniho has asked for four signings in four key positions and he’s demanded that his club do everything possible to get them. And United haven’t shirked away either: the club’s operations see them bring in approximately €200m annually, without even counting the extraordinarily large contracts with Adidas and Chevrolet, as well as the recent increase in TV rights.
Real Madrid need to react, and fast.

After the arrival of Eric Bailly, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic (the latter two who are also represented by Raiola), the Red Devils are now only missing a world-class centre midfielder from Mou’s wishlist. Pogba was right at the top of that, and United are moving quickly to avoid getting into a tussle with Real Madrid, who have been indecisive up until now. This week, United’s executive director Ed Woodward put in place an agreement with Pogba and next week he plans to seal the deal in a meeting with Juve. Real need to react, and fast.

Manchester United want Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi - sources
Paul Pogba
Blaise Matuidi and Paul Pogba have both impressed for France.

Manchester United are hoping to complete the signings of both Paul Pogba from Juventus and Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain, sources have told ESPN FC.

United's interest in Matuidi had initially been seen as a back-up to Pogba, if they could not persuade Juve to sell their star midfielder, but Jose Mourinho's wish to revitalise the midfield could see both arrive this summer.

Sources have told ESPN FC that the club must still convince Pogba to join them, despite intermediaries agreeing basic terms with both Juventus and the player's agent.

Mourinho has identified the 23-year-old as his primary target and United are confident of completing a deal after agreeing terms with his representatives, but Pogba himself has not yet definitively agreed to move back to Old Trafford.

While some reports in France state have indicated that he is open to returning to the club he left on a free transfer in 2012, sources have told ESPN FC that Pogba's main preference is still to go to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
ESPN FC's Steve Nicol assesses the performance of France player Antoine Griezmann so far and if it's enough to be considered a better player than Paul Pogba.

United officials won't get the chance to sit down and discuss the move with Pogba until next week at the earliest, as the midfielder will play in the final of Euro 2016 against Portugal on Sunday.

And, although his France teammate Matuidi is in the same situation and has also played down reports of a summer move, United are seemingly keen to add both superstars to their midfield this summer if they can.

Real Madrid have given no indication that they are prepared to pay the required £100 million fee for Pogba, while Barcelona are no longer interested in him after seeing an €80m offer rejected last summer.
