selling power stations is a brilliant move, they can continue to make money thru profit taxes and tariffs and still get electricity at a reasonable rate without having to do any of the work themselves.....win win for PAP.if im not wrong, electric tariffs is actually more than the cost of generating electricity itself in singapore.

if it is that simple, why wld foreign businesses want to buy the power stations and lose money?

they arent, they are selling electricity at a market rate of about 14 or 15 cents/kwh,and making a nice steady profit since Singapore needs electricity always.government is adding on another 8 to 10 cents/kwh tariffs like a GST,therefore increasing the cost of electricity for consumers by another 50 to 60 percent.....recently government is reducing tariffs by 2 or 3 cents to make it seem like electricity is getting cheaper, but its just PAP collecting less taxes.

PAP sold SG's power stations and NOL. These wrong moves will haunt SG in the future.

Will PAP sell SIA next?

NOL, power stations are SG's strategic assets that must remain in SG's hands

PAP has long sold Singaporeans' backside to FT, what can be worse than that? 70% sinkies are still enjoying being screwed. Case close.

You dont believe that pap sold those imporatnt assets to foreigners?

The books of GIC and Temasek are not audited or are exempt from statutory audit.
The books of GIC and Temasek is a pandora's box once it is pried open.
Heard someone said that when PAP smell money afar, they will go crazy.

if sg is run like sg inc., why not? it can also sell naming rights: for e.g. changi airport can be oracle airport, marina bay can be samsung bay, singapore river can be alibaba river. as sg inc., it's all about increasing value for shareholders and making money.

SPC (Singapore Petroleum Company) was sold to PetroChina in 2009, and all the petrol stations in Sinkieland became foreign owned. As a result Sinkie car owners are at the mercy of the foreign petrol cartel and suffer higher petrol prices for the profit of foreigners all these years.

When SPC started years ago....I was wondering, since when we we have oil fields here?....Don't forget, SPC took over or was it bought over all the BP Stations here & renamed it SPC...

LKY once said...it is none of your business...the same goes for HDB books....that will take 52 man years to audit....GIC & Temasek..most likely until the year 2525...if we all are still alive...they still have not finishing auditing....if they ever allow...

May lky the traitor rot in hell.

he might be a translator for the japs in ww2, but he was not fluent in japanese and his actual duty was to analyze morse codes that had been converted to alphanumeric and make legible english sentences out of disjointed sets of characters. he could have been also a double agent for the allies as he might be feeding the japs false or convoluted info from his analysis. very likely, he worked for british intell near the end of the war as he was able to recon penang and cameron highlands and linked up with highly secretive british elements while on leave from his duties at the hodobu. the original plan was to escape and hide in penang in order to get closer to the allies and away from any combat or bombardment in sg by allied re-occupiers. but as allied plans indicated invasion of malaya from burma, penang would be a stepping stone. so he decided on cameron highlands where food could be grown and survival and safety assured. how did he know about allied invasion plans of malaya? his british handlers hiding out in cameron highlands.

The strategic assets r the banks, telco , press. All others r free game. SIA is one of the most profitable airlines, there is no reason to sell whereas NOL has been bleeding for many many years and nothing could stop. They are not big enough neither r they nimble enough. They were desperate to sell for fear of being left on the shelf if CDM passes.

Years before they sold off the APL logistics. Their gamble on APL didn't pay off. Too bad.

They were damn bloody proud of NOL....& do not forget MPA too...if you know what MPA stands for....that is why you have Maersk & Evergreen...cross the mersey..oops!...to the Johor Straits..

We were & still today..so damn, bloody, arrogant & pompous...over our achievements .....& the present government is no different...do not be fooled by "old wine" in " NEW LABEL".....the contents still "taste" the same...
