Chitchat When SPH and MediaCorp Fail Singaporeans

When SPH and Mediacorp are made used by pap as its propaganda tools, Singaporeans turn to other sources for information.

When SPH and Mediacorp do not report the truth and only spout what the pap wants Singaporeans to hear and read, Singaporeans turn to social media

When the pap targets and persecutes bloggers, Singaporeans blog in anonymity.

The better way for Singapore is when the MSM report the truth and not be the mouthpiece of the pap. Until such time, social media will remain an important and true source of information.

the pap must realise that unless it allows a more free msm, it is fighting a losing battle against social media. the pap must admit that ultimately truth prevails over propaganda

The pap must self reflect and agree that the growing influence of social media in SG is partly its own doing and manipulation of MSM

What difference does it make when 70% vote for the PAP anyway regardless of where they get their news from.

Even if the alternative news sources proved beyond doubt that all the PAP ministers were axe murderers it wouldn't make a scrap of difference come the elections.

Singaporeans have not suffered enough - when recession strikes, deflation takes over, prices up, widespread employment, no jobs for young and old, people go without food, hungry, violence in the neighbourhood ......

It takes one or two such experiences before the majority of Singaporeans will wake up, take a look at the causes of their woes and suffering...narrow it down to the fact that there has been all the while, a 50 year blood sucker leech sucking upon their blood, toil, tears and sweat....before some action will be taken to correct the situation....by then, too late...those that enriched themselves in the last 50 years or more would have flown the coop...leaving the poor Singaporeans to their own vomit, diahorrea and regrets ...for not waking up early.....

I agree with you. When the pap said there is no poor in SG, some Singaporeans (maybe 70%) believe them. When the pap said if you are poor, the best country to be in is SG, some (maybe 70%) believe them. When the pap said that aged singaporeans collect card boxes because they want to exercise, some (maybe 70%) believe them When the pap said old singaporeans wipe hawker centre tables because they dont want to be bored at home, some (maybe 70%) believe them. ..etc

The pap are overstretching themselves with lies. Based ont he above probability, with the many lies, maybe 0.24 (0.7x0.7x0.7x0.7) believe what the pap said. That's why more and more Singaporeans are tuning to social to get a more accurate picture rather than believe SPH, Mediacorpa nd pap. this is why the pap loses the media battle. pap's credibility has been constantly impeached

SPH and Mediacorp must see themselves as nation building tools rather than pap tools.

In their present forms and roles, SPH and Mediacorp join the PA as doing a disservice to SG by sucking up to the pap. Singaporeans must wake up and continue to reject SPH, MediaCorp and PA and continue to support social media. It is when social media gains popularity that MSM are compelled to serve Singaporeans and not just the pap

if sinkies truly know the truth and nothing but the truth about the pap, they will give pap a resounding 96% of the votes.

your statement can only be uttered by a no-brainer.

everyone with a brain can see that if your statement was correct, pap will have no fear to tell the truth and will not need to resort to control SPH, Mediacorp and social media

it's a no brainer that the pap wins the support of majority of sinkie voters without the need to tell the truth. anyone who does not see that is simply in denial. if the pap were to tell the truth, they would garner more sympathies, tears of relief, release and enlightenment, and much more votes.

In many ways, the way things are in Singapore is because the people find comfort in it. That standards in Singapore are world class, it is a top notch nation, and that things (and services) in Peesai are much better than the same things and services the rest of the world. In some ways, that is true (thanks to the British colonial rulers, and the early headstart Singapore had), and the media playing its role in "nation building." which is a pleasant way of saying its cooperation with the ruling government to scratch each other's back! It is true that the ST only reports (or publishes) what it wants the public to know, and how it wants the public to perceive things. I am unable to reproduce here (but you can get it from the National Library), ST issue July 1977, report on Hell Riders racing along Orchard Road, it reports that racers used "supercharged machines" to race. As far as I know, nobody in the world had supercharged motorcycles in 1977. It wasn't until 1979 that Kawasaki released a street-legal turbocharged model, the GPz 750, (turbocharge is a kind/variant of supercharging) that was available only in the United States! But nobody back then even noticed that gross error in the paper's reporting! It was plainly evident that the paper's purpose was to cast a negative image of the motorcyclist as irresponsible speed demons by that phrase. It was clear what the report was trying to do! A few months later, they coined the term "crash bars" on motorcycles above 200 cc had to be fitted with these, again the term "crash bars" was misleadin, the correct term for the equipment was "engine guard" used by the industry. The term crash bar was used to suggest they were safety devices, but they weren't. It was silly and stupid to impose such a law (a trail/off-road bike of 250 cc would be subjected to that law as well!!) and it was a turn off to motorcycle enthusiasts of the day. The authorities really pissed off motorcycle enthusiasts - thanks to the tactics of the Straits TImes. I cite these as examples of purpose-intended articles of the MSM that are not political in nature, but anyway, they did happen. Piece of shit newspaper. Been waiting a long long time for an alternative newspaper, but that is not going to happen. This forum is the closest you'd get to actual reporting in Singapore.

Cheers!

Thanks for sharing.

As long as SPH and mediacorp allow themselves to be used by pap to fulfil its agenda, SPH and Mediacorp will eventually lose their credibilty and relevance. But I guess Warren Fernandez and Shaun Seow wont bother to care as long as they are paid well by the pap now. They probably believe what happens to SG in the future is not their problem

Many who reached 55 got a rude awakening when the age of CPF withdrawal was changed.

Now that we that there is a recession many uncles & aunties are unemployed, so what does the PAP expect them to do when their saving are tied up in the CPF? Will these uncles & aunties turn to the opposition in the next GE?

That's rubbish because within a week of my 55th birthday I received the required paperwork and withdrew more than half a million smackos from my CPF account. The whole process was executed efficiently and quickly.

A small amount is retained with the long term view in mind which is a prudent measure and ensures that funds are not frittered away in their entirety.
