the fact that he joined the nation of islam, evaded the draft to escape being sent to vietnam and got acquitted in a trial due to a tiny technicality pisses off many americans, including vietnam vets. not a saint. but he was humble and patient enough to sit hours at his hometown to sign autographs for kids. some redemption. to me he's just another flamboyant nigger who hit the dust.

agreed. no big deal. he is just hot air this muhammad ali with above average literary skills. alot of boxers are better and more fearsome than him like mike tyson in his prime or rocky marciano. in fact one of the pugilists who trained with cassius clay and later with bruce lee once said bruce lee with his speed and power would have beaten cassius clay easily in the first round. all this written in the biography about the greatest pugilists of all time ie Brucelee.

Don't know why a lot of ppl don't like to pay their dues to bruce lee and i believe it's cos he's chinese and on the small size and alot of ppl just cannot see to accept a small guy can be a very good fighter or the best fighter around.

Anyway the best pound for pound boxer and one that i believe is like the greatest would be sugar ray robinson. Think he's amazing.

Many didn't agree with the Vietnam war & to avoid the draft people went to study in the Uni, so that they would be exempt from the draft. Others went to Canada.

if he were to get drafted, i doubt he would be sent to the frontline in vietnam. he would be used by the army for propaganda and sports purposes. there was more value in him as a spokesperson for the army than just sending him to combat.
