The coffee shop dish collector was pushed, pinned down and punched in a vicious robbery attack at Tampines Street 24 on Wednesday morning (May 25).
Mr Leong Kok Cheong, 57, who has speech difficulties, held on to his sling bag, which contained a wallet, a tablet and a change of clothes.
This infuriated the robber, who punched him repeatedly until he managed to get hold of his wallet, which contained $60.
Mr Leong’s brother told The New Paper:
“My brother was so confused by the attack that he did not even say a word while he was beaten.”
Mr Leong was left with a swollen left eye, cuts on his knee and forehead, as well as a broken left arm.
The robber was arrested on the same day of the attack and is expected to be charged today (May 27) with an offence of robbery with hurt.
He could face jail of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and punished with caning with not less than 12 strokes.
