Wah so long winded.

My take home message is that the Professor had no children and no family. Died all alone in hospital. Was thinking about work when he was dying. Absolute horrible way to live and die IMHO. But then I am not him.

So perhaps there are people out there dedicated to teaching such that they would give up everything for their vocation.

It's called a vocation because you are supposed to give up everything for it.
