SINGAPORE - A suspect has been arrested for a break-in and theft at a Sentosa home, police said in a statement on Monday (April 25).
The 38-year-old suspect is believed to be involved in other similar cases.
Police said it received a report of a break-in at a residence in Sentosa on Saturday (April 23) at about 5.20pm.
Cash was found missing from the premises.
Police officers established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on Monday at about 2am along Kampong Java Road.
The suspect will be charged with house-breaking and theft by day. If convicted, he can be jailed up to 10 years.
Police advised all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures to protect their premises against break-ins:
* Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;
* Secure all doors and window grills before going to bed or when leaving the house unattended, even for a short while;
* Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box
* Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into the home, and ensure that they are tested regularly and in good working condition
