SYDNEY (AFP) - A small, picturesque Australian village has been listed for sale, attracting interest from China and Singapore, with its new buyer set to own dozens of homes, a lake full of fish and 35 highland cattle.

Property agents said they hoped the 145-hectare Tarraleah village in the heart of Tasmania state would fetch up to A$13 million (S$13.4 million).

What they omit to tell you is that the property tax you have to pay every year, the water and power station you need to set up if there is none, the waste management for the town if there is none and so on. Buying is easy, it is the maintenance of running a town is the killer.

If I am not wrong, I think California have one of the highest tax in USA.

interesting point. Some royalties own the whole country's land, eg. Saudi Arabia, Swaziland, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, etc
