I would concoct a character that is so great, sacrifice every thing daily food, sex life money blah blah many idiots would be touched and adored him. I will tell them if they accept him, they would get every lasting supplies of food and virgin this and next life, I would build a mass of gong kia followers willing to empty their bank accounts for me the messenger.
Yes...you can. But who are going to be your audience? And how long will your 'believers' be touched by your concocted character?
But the character of Jesus lasted over 2000 years and over these 2000 years from great scientist like Issac Newton to big time master in slavery trade, John Newton (author of a great hymn, Amazing Grace) had been touched by the historical event of Jesus and had accepted Him as their Saviour. Even now, Christianity is growing by leaps and bound in many countries - interestingly in many communists and Muslim countries which are the chief persecutor of Christian faith. Sadly, many Western countries are started to regress and living from godly life to godless life because of satanic and demonic influences. There is now a huge revolution in the West on alternative life-style, man married man, woman married woman. Laws are passed to punish those who discriminate these people and if you believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman and if you are a owner of a bakery shop practicing your belief by refusing to sell a 'wedding' cake to a gay marriage, you can be sued or worse still, going to jail because it's a crime!
If the story of Jesus was concocted and to this day, people are still believing it to be true, I am prepared to be fooled by it if it finally turned out to be false. How could a concocted character fool people for 2000 years! This in itself a great miracle that there is no close second. There is nothing wrong to believe in a miracle.
We have many concocted heroes - superman, spiderman, tarzan - where are they now. Well, yes they are still around but in children's comic books. And that is going to be the same for your concocted story, at the very best, it will end up in children's comic books.
God Bless
