For a hobbyist, airguns are a better option than regular guns (that use bullets propelled by gunpowder). My reason, you need to go to a rifle range, or at least some rural wasteland to shoot safely. Whereas airguns (and air pistols can be fired indoors without emitting the smell of gunpowder. After all, if your objective was accuracy, airguns perform extremely well, better than those with far greater firepower and destructive potential. There is a whole wide range of airguns, from little Daisy BB guns (for kids) to hunting airguns, able to handle game and some large pests too! For those with the money, and the interest, there are competition airrifles used in Olympics and other top level shooting competitions. Best of all, you can operate them indoors, shooting at homemade targets (like a watermelon, the pellets get lodged in them and won'r ricochet. You can't do this with regular guns (rifles or handguns!), and are cheap where ammo is concerned!

Cheers!

Not far from Moscow there was held an exhibition of handguns that was devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the battle for Stalingrad. Those who came there could see well-known handguns, rifles and machine guns from the times of WWII and modern ones. You are invited to the exhibition, too.
