SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man has been arrested following an accident where a car mounted the kerb near the Fountain of Wealth on Wednesday afternoon (Feb 10).

Eyewitness Peter Wang told Channel NewsAsia that the car had been travelling along the roundabout at Suntec City when the incident happened at about 5.20pm, just as he was passing by the area.

"The car just lost control and went up the kerb and hit the sign of the Fountain of Wealth," he said. Mr Wang added that about eight to 10 people gathered at the scene and looked to be trying to wake the driver up.

"I stayed for about 15 minutes until the ambulance arrived. The management and security all went to assist the person," Mr Wang said.

Police said they were alerted to the incident at 5.26pm. The driver was later arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.

Channel NewsAsia understands that the driver had consumed cough syrup.

Suntec City property manager Anthony Yip, the deputy chairman of APM Property Management, said the incident was a "minor traffic accident".

"The Traffic Police are investigating. There is no property damage," he said.
