Tragic case of Benjamin Lim: is Spore’s justice system flawed?

case of james bulger. only a 2-year old boy. while public attention and sympathy were heaped on robert and jon who were convicted of heinous crimes while they were 10 (above in pic), very few knew that the victim was kidnapped, tortured, beaten, sexually assaulted, bloodied, and deliberately left incapacitated on a railway track to get hit by a train.

So where did these two young boys learned how to kidnap, torture and kill?
Like I said, the society and the environment plays an intrinsic role in shaping individuals.

Our World is filled with examples of violent and destruction even in video shows, computer simulated games, and the television set.
We have TV programme like CSI, and many crime related programmes shown to impressionable kids.
They are making money at the expense of young minds.

There are of course the peer pressure to look cool, be a hero and be tough attitude.
Even in an online forum such behaviour are common.

At their age, they don't even know what they doing is right or wrong, they just acted out what they have seem.

truth of the matter is,the thing is its not about police brutality or harrasement, the question is why are sinkies so sensitive and so afraid of judgemental people or being judged?clearly it cant be that one interrogation session alone drove the boy to suicide, clearly he was afraid of what others might think of him when he returned to school, the bullying and harrasement that will ensue.the fear and embarassment when he has to face his peers,we know the teenage adolescence years are the most sensitive and volatile periods, thats when we fear being accepted or rejected by our peers.are sinkies' ego and pride so easily hurt and smashed?its almost like they cant handle any form of criticism or attacks.everytime some foreigner attack us or insult us be it online or in the media, that is always a huge hullabaloo and uproar and demand for social justice until the person is hounded out of the country or out of existence.in other countries u dont see this kind of shit, especially in ang moh countries, people are more outspoken and confrontational, they joke, insult and talk shit all the time.either u fight back or u take it like a pussy, theres no such thing as so and so said shit about us,we demand the person be fired and expel from the country, somebody has to protect our ego and feelings,i dont care if its the police or authorities!!!!!sinkies are precious!!!

We have all been through these phases one point or another during our teenage years.
Its never easy and sometimes tough.
The is the period where our awareness is fast developing with no references as how to handle or manage them.
Emotional awareness, sexual awareness and social awareness are constantly building up in the minds.

We do not know the actual events that happened on the fateful day.
If the boy did molest the girl, where did he learn this behaviour from?
Surely at his age he should be quite aware of the opposite sex but where did he get the idea that molestation is a form of gratification from?
Are we as a commercialized society partly to be blame?
We create exciting movies laced with sexual scenes, even on TV shows, computer games, on-line porn sites...etc that are easily accessible to draw in the sales and money.

If the boy commits the offence he should be disciplined, punished appropriately and the most important of all is behaviourial correction, so that he understand the right and wrong of doing such thing.
He is after all still a young boy, at a stage where his faculty is still developing and not fully developed yet.

But was he given that chance to be corrected and set on the right path again?
Or was he man handled like a hardcored criminal and ostracized by the very school that he felt he belonged to?
Only Benjamin Lim himself would know.

children are never always innocent. that was in the 90s when the crime was committed, and video games then were mild in comparison to the present. video games these days are more violent and grotesque than anytime in history. i knew of a case involving a 4-year child in the 80s when there was hardly any pc at home nor violent content on tv, yet this kid kept lifting women's skirts to peep underneath where ever he went. his parents were lost for words and couldn't control his urge, as though he was born with the innate compulsion to stare at undies.

Children are always curious, just like a baby taking his or her first step, discovering the feel of hot and cool, tastes of sweet and bitter,
the sensory are developing, this is a time where effective parenting is very important.

They innocent as the mind are in a stage of curious learning and adapting.

Our parents would have caned us for peeping the undies, that smack on the head or buttock would tell us that it the wrong thing to do,
and we never do take again as the reward is a smack on the buttock.

For adults there are many factors that affect their behaviour, more of psychological nature.

In the 80s, videos vcr were already very common, sex tapes, sex comics and sex books are plenty.

How do we understand, speak a language, or use computer with windows 10, what about diner's etiquette, manners
or smoke, consume drug or liqour. We are all learning "animal".

the truth of the matter is Singapore was under a bully dictator. This fucking retard Hakka bastard Lee Cony You to blame for the problems in Singapore.

Our system has been around for decades, if improvement were to administered, it would have been done long time ago.
Not until such tragic event happened.
The current strategy is not to improve the system to appease the people but to subtly strike terror and fear into people's mind.

The police would never change their attitudes towards the weak, the young, the poorer population, they want absolute control.

The glaring truth is they are scared of Foreigners, the Indians, Bangladeshis, Thai, Myanmar, Filipinos & Filipinas, Vietnamese, etc...SINGAPOREANS they are damn harsh towards them.....& can we just say...this just a coincidence?.Not that we want a lawless society....what happened to the "to build a democratic society' in the pledge, if this gap is not addressed & allowed by the 70% , the PLEDGE is another hogwash!

Those of you who dare say our justice system is flawed have shown contempt for our court. You have besmirched the good name of our justices and chief justice. I hope you all will be brought to justice for this heinous crime.

Can imagine how the parents would be feeling having reunion dinner without Benjamin Lim.
How to eat, swallow also difficult, everytime spoon is near the mouth, tears would welled up.

Really sad.

This is the result of a one party system with no counter balance.
If there were 2 powerful parties in Parliament, they would probably
be rushing to be seen looking into the matter asap.

One party question the other and the other would rebut.
And justice have will have a field day.

That's the Parliament that Singapore should have.

Well said.
But 70% is ok with this system.
You can say elections unfair blah blah blah but end of the day they were given a choice and there was a choice. And the choice already made. So we assume your views are in the minority.
I just hope and pray this misfortune will also befall the kids of the 70% because they are of the no see coffin no cry category.

If Benjie wud have stayed in some posh Condo, the Schooll and the Police wud hve did everythng right. Reality, there is 2 system of law here which need to be address.

If his dad and Mum had taken the trouble to mind him, they will not have such a problem now.

It is the time of the year again. The ministers are busy preparing to welcome the year of the Monkey.

Other inconsequential matters can wait.

They may not even aware of a Benjamin case.

Has it got to do with the economy, job , stock markets?

Parents, bring your kids up right so that they can go study at the elite school like my kids. Otherwise, your kids would end up at some rotten neighbourhood schools where classroom fights, vulgarities and juvenile crime are common. Why else do you think police cars visit such neighbourhood schools on a frequent basis to nab teenage criminals while treating elite students with far greater respect? Elite students know how to behave!

You are absolutely right in saying that neighborhood schools are full of scum and they grow up to become useless adults.

I often wonder why the government bothers with these dunces as there is definitely no return on investment.
