Taiwanese people will show the pro-China's countries that ROC will not bow it head down to PRC.

DPP will gain power

Tsai will win. More importantly I think NPP will also do well.

But whoever wins will have to face the geopolitical reality that China today is the world's second largest economy and a de facto superpower. So negotiations and compromises will have to be made in the name of peace and economic interdependence. In that respect I don't see Tsai pursuing a drastically different path from Ma Ying-jeou. Too much is at stake.

Rather, I think there will be improvement social justice, aboriginal rights and corruption if DPP wins. That's good for Taiwan. It will consolidate its progress towards a truly liberal democracy, a rarity in Asia.

The problem here is she don't recognise one china principle and for as long as this is the case, Beijing will have no dealing with her.

Latest straw poll indicate DPP 43%, kmt 25% and PFP 15% with remaining 17% undecided . Kmt hope is to win over the 17% undecided if they want to have a practical shot at winning. But quite unlikely since most of this 17% undecided will unlikely go to the poll. If the attendance is 83% which is very high by Taiwanese standard that should translate into 55% win for DPP tsai. So it a foregone conclusion that DPP will win the race for presidency. The important thing now for kmt is to ensure DPP don't win parliamentary majority but that also seem like an uphill task.

When I was in Uni, all my Taiwanese schoolmates wanted independence and be separated from China. But that was 20+ years ago, I don't know what they think now.
