Has anyone encounter situation like you work and work and earn money but end up not sure what to spend on ?
I am not trying to say I am very rich. This phenomenon can be anyone with any amount of money in bank, can be earn little also. But after work or offday, need to think how to spend money ?
And yet spending on certain things that I will like e.g buy a car is so costly and will used up all my money.
That is also the reason why endup I bought handbag for the lady fren

good point whats the point of scrimping and saving every penny and investing and living a frugal live for 12 or more years if u are just going to give every single cent all 500k of it including your cpf to the first ah tiong bu that comes by and lets you hold her waist?

cpf is a very flawed policy,we should switch to government pension like australia.

i mean lets face i dont get very much pleasure out of buying stuff i dont need, the things im interested in are limited, maybe a new laptop or some cool new electronic gadgets or a new e bike or solar panels(i always want to go solar and shit and become self sustainable) things that are useful to my life or my standard of living....i get more pleasure out of making money and saving and hording cash, and investing it to make more money maybe own a few properties one day.im a very simple man whose happy with good food or a bacon and egg sandwich and of course my dream is to migrate and live in australia

Of course I won't encourage anyone to get mesmerized by ATB and give them all your dollar. I am not into this sort of going for atb also.
I mean I not very sure what to spend on thus I just offered to buy some gift for the lady.
I already have everything, and those things I don't have are all too costly.

OK, if you are looking at saving more money for pleasure, at same time you have a goal to make more and more for new properties, then it is slightly different.
For my case, it is a neither here nor there situation, that is the most sad things.

i thought u said u find more pleasure in saving money than spending it?thats how u saved 500k over 12 years?everyone has some sort of subconcious target or internal measurement that once they reached they will feel rich, maybe u reached that internal richometer and now u feel rich and lost and wondering what to do since accumulating more wealth seems pointless and futile?

after all a china billionaire once said, hes made so much money that money has no meaning anymore, and it no longer provides any goal or motivation in his life.thats when u start to seek the higher tiers in maslow's hierachy of life, the greater meaning of life, the self actualization, where its no longer about self,u need to deal with the problems of society and mankind and become an omnipotent being godlike being like dr manhattan whose shoulders the fate of the universe rest upon who seeks to understand the purpose of the human race and its existence.

You can't take $ with you when you go to the crematorium.
So people should consider spending more money on their own health e.g. buying organic food, health supplements, take trips to de-stress,.., rather than spending it on hospital bills.

CPF is far better because it is your money which you can leave to your beneficiaries.

You can't do that with a pension. You could pay taxes all your life and get absolutely nothing back.

The money you have accumulated should be used to launch your journey towards achieving financial independence. It should be invested not spent.

The amount does not matter as long as it is made to work for you. If you spend it you no longer have a foundation upon which to build more wealth.

You are assuming the Singapore government will remain solvent for the next several decades. I question that assumption. Furthermore, CPF monies are not guaranteed to the extent that sovereign bonds are and hence is a less safe instrument. And the government is free to change the rules anytime to delay payment.

Anyone who thinks their CPF is forever secure ought to question their assumptions.

to be honest,if u live in a socialised first world country like scandinavia or france or canada or swissland,u should expect most of your needs to be taken care of by the state already,ur healthcare,ur education,ur retirement,ur childcare,ur welfare etc,u should expect ur future generations to be more or less taken care of too...so what is the point of passing down ur wealth to subsequent generations to be hoarded?wealth should be given away back to the state and society and charity for recirculation among ur society.

also giving alot of wealth to ur children or grandchildren is a certain way to encourage sloth and laziness and squabbles, their parents and country has given them a certain standard of living and a good education, they should be encouraged to go out and strive for themselves just like you did and ur predecessors did.giving them a shit ton of unearned wealth is a good way to tame that appetite and quench their thirst for

Tan Kah Kee,singapore and malaysia's most prominent businessman and philantropist, when he died he gave his entire fortune away all 4 million of it to schools and charity and foundations.he did not leave a single cent to his sixteen children other then providing them with an education and essentials.

Never, ever depend on a 3rd party for your essential needs. Nothing beats taking care of your own needs using your own resources. People in many countries have found this out the hard way.

Governments of other countries are no less likely to go broke and be unable to honor pension liabilities.

Everyone needs a sense of security to feel good and at ease. As long as you set aside an amount, and/or made investment arrangements that you are comfortable with. As the world economy evolves, make sensible economic decisions and plan.

The rest just spend if that makes you happy. Spend within your means.

Some people save and save, and that makes them happy also.

It's important to be happy. We never know when is the last moments of our lives.:(

still i like to know my country/state is looking after me and has my best interests at heart, and i can still sleep safe and secure in my bed no matter what happens.millions can be lost, business can go bankrupt and insolvency.

instead of dicking around with my taxpayer dollars and paying themselves millions.
