You want to know why the cops ran away from the rioters in LI? If you have 10 cops armed with the Taurus, you have 50 rounds in the chamber, and another 50 in reload. For a total off 100 rounds against 500 rioters, they are still hopeless outnumbered if they shot one rioter per round. If you have 10 cops armed with Beretta 92 or Glock 17, you have 15 rounds per gun or 150 ready rounds. Plus another 150 in the spare mag. That's combined 300 rounds. 10 cops could have shot most of the fucking rioters. The weapon gives the confidence to the carrier. No one wants to carry 5 shots.

in the late-90's they changed the CRAPPY holsters they were using for the old revolvers...........they bought expensive new holsters..............later when they thought of replacing revolvers with pistols.................they realize the expensive new holsters can't be used with pistols..............so they bought new revolvers.........

A pistol may not yet confirm lose to an ak47. It the training of the personnel using the weapons that will prevail. An terrorist seems to like fire his AK from the hip on full auto mode which he will be lucky to hit his target from 10m. The best way to get accurate down range from an AK is still resting the butt on the shoulder firing semi auto mode. I can understand rebels using AKs in open conflict but really don't understand why terrorists like use AKs. Even the Danish Masden M50 submachine gun which fire the 9mm is a much stable platform than the AK and should be cheap if not cheaper than an AK.
