SINGAPORE: Temasek Holdings Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Ho Ching will return from her six-month part-time sabbatical in late October, Temasek announced on Wednesday (Sep 30).
"She continues to oversee our stewardship role, including the constitutional responsibility to protect Temasek’s past reserves," Temasek said in a news release.
Mr Lee Theng Kiat, President of Temasek, who covered Mdm Ho's duties during her sabbatical, will be appointed CEO of Temasek International (TI) with effect from Oct 1.
TI is the wholly owned management arm of Temasek. It was formed four years ago to manage and build the investment company's capabilities in anticipation of a growing and increasingly global portfolio. All Temasek staff, except for the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Temasek, were transferred to TI in 2011, in line with global best practices of international investment companies.
Mr Lee will be responsible for Temasek’s role as an active investor and shareholder and will oversee Temasek’s commercial strategies and portfolio. He will also build up the management and operational capabilities at TI to support the next phase of Temasek’s development and deliver sustainable long term returns, the investment company said.
Mdm Ho will concurrently be appointed Chairman of Temasek International on Oct 1. Mr Lee will work closely with Ms Ho to oversee and strengthen Temasek's foundation as a "forward looking institution", Temasek added.
