even though 3D printing in its current state will not replace mass manufacturing yet, noted Brendan Goh, co-founder of Pirate3D, a local startup which in 2013 raised US$1.4 million - way above its US$100,000 goal - on the Kickstarter funding platform for its self-made 3D printer. "Only when 3D printing can achieve high speeds and a good quality of finished products will it really make a huge dent in traditional manufacturing," Mr Goh said. "Nonetheless, it's great because the first step for the industry would be to begin with a service model until 3D printers become a lot more affordable such that the high-end ones become attainable for SMEs and individuals."

print money is the best!

i was contemplating to invest in a 3d printing company but there are many -ve reasons, i stop to ponder. one of the reason being bad economy and s'pore is not a manufacturing hub, 3d printing is still in its infancy stage. when 3D printers become cheaper in near future, many consumer will get to print at home.

Now printers so cheap, free some more when signing up phones or laptops, still there are brick and mortar shops doing printing. It's all about thinking out of the box when doing biz. Maybe u can think of something different and package it as a service rather than just supply people the use of it. Hope your biz takes off.. :p

how are you able to compete with other cheaper alternatives like in thailand or vietnam?
