9 year-old Lee Yu Heng was going to start school in a Sembawang Primary school this school year, but tragically, he was hit by a car outside his school's temporary premises and died from his injuries.

The accident happened last Friday while the schoolboy was heading home from Sembawang Drive to Canberra Road.

According to his family members, Yu Heng was crossing a traffic junction at Sembawang Drive when the accident happened.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received calls at 1.30pm.

A police spokesman said they were informed of an accident involving a collision between a car and a pedestrian. It is understood that Yu Heng was flung several metres from the pedestrian crossing, he sustained serious injuries, including a broken spine and internal bleeding.

He was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and placed in ICU, where he died about 7.30PM last night.

According to the boy's family, who demanded to know what happened from the teachers, teachers told the family that there was no traffic controller at the junction during the accident and that they did not know where exactly the accident happened.

Attempts by The New Paper to contact the school's principal were unsuccessful.

Yesterday at the WP rally, a man resembling Yu Heng's father was spotted crying and making a scene. He was comforted by passersby and rally attendees.

If the PAP had not been in charge, Singaporeans would still be commuting on bicycles and bullock carts and his son would not have been run over by a car because nobody would be able to afford one.

It is therefore the PAP's fault his son was run over.

Most importantly, was the driver that killed his son an FT let in by the PAP?

Is the PAP fault for making Singaporeans ambivalent to the pedestrians. Instead of stopping we just run over them without any conscience.

Such a comment can only be relevant if the driver is a reckless FT who hass no proper singapore driving instruction....

We will see......

After watching the clip, my heart goes out to the bereaved family; especially the father who seems to be totally in despair over his son's death. Really sad!

Only PAP can help him By voting PAP and ensuring a stable government, PAP can help this man get justice.

PAP loves you. PAP is on your side!

If PAP passed laws that require high insurance premiums for drivers that would pay car accidents death to the tune of millions of dollars.

Such things would not have happened.

The New Paper
Monday, Jan 16, 2012
HE WAS looking forward to starting a new year in new school premises as a Primary 4 student.
But barely two weeks into the new school year, Lee Yu Heng was hit by a car outside his school's temporary premises and died from his injuries.
The accident happened last Friday as the Sembawang Primary schoolboy was walking home alone from his school at Sembawang Drive to his family's flat at Canberra Road.
According to his family members, Yu Heng, 9, was using a traffic light crossing at Sembawang Drive when the accident happened.
The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received calls at 1.30pm.
A police spokesman said they were informed of an accident involving a collision between a car and a pedestrian.
A SCDF spokesman said it sent an ambulance and a paramedic to the scene.
It is understood that Yu Heng was found some metres from a pedestrian crossing. He had sustained serious injuries and was unconscious.
The boy was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit.
His uncle, Mr Lee Nam Peng, 46, said he had chest and head injuries. His spine was broken and he suffered from internal bleeding.
Mr Lee, a contractor, said Yu Heng died of his injuries at about 7.30pm last night.
"Everyone burst into tears. It was just so sad for a young boy to have his life cut short like that," he added.
"The investigating officer told me that there was no traffic controller at the junction when it happened."
One of boy's aunts had asked his teachers where exactly Yu Heng was hit.
But the teachers said they didn't know as they were not there when the accident happened.
Attempts by The New Paper to contact the school's principal were unsuccessful.
According to the school's website, the school's location at Sembawang Drive is actually a holding site because the original campus, near Sembawang Avenue, is being upgraded.
The school moved at the beginning of the year and will be at its temporary location until June next year.
Yu Heng's younger brother, Yu Liang, 8, said his brother would sometimes walk home with him.
He said his brother was in the morning session and was looking forward to the new school year.
His aunt, Madam Eileen Lee, in her early 40s, told TNP that Yu Heng was cute and intelligent.
"He was also an athlete in school and liked outdoor activities and football.
"I don't think he would run across the road," she said.
Yu Heng was the fifth of seven children. He has three brothers and three sisters.
His father, in his 40s, sells top-up cards and his mother is a housewife.
The driver, a male in his 40s, is assisting police in investigations.

Sorry Shamugam too busy caring for dogs only

He wasn't that busy. The newspaper article said he did not want to care whether the dog was lost by its owner or not. It said that it was his wife who asked him to stop and THEN he GOT THE HEART TO HELP THE DOG. He is just a hypocrite.

Apparently, that guy is not the father but the uncle. Suggesting get your eyes checked lol and yea, don't judge how that father is like. I can't believe you are such a kind hearted being to even judge the man. He is just any father who had lost his son who Was looking forward to a new school and new friends. Because of your senseless judging, the world is such a better place. Thanks to u for making this world a better place to lived in! Congratz on living your whole life to such a standard! Your parents must be proud of you!!!

OMG, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU FOR THE LATTER PART. The driver of that accident did not even pay his respect to the little kid at the funeral. NOT EVEN APOLOGISING FOR EVERY HEARTS AND FAMILY DAMAGED. He never apologises for his speed driving and lies he said in the court. Oh my! I just hope he suffers the same way the family of the little kid did. Maybe his loved one get knocked down by a driver who speeds in the school zone and the driver won't be charged and let off and never again seen. What comes around, goes around. He will get it the same way
