Jail for filming two women in shower

A business consultant planted his Blackberry smartphone in his flat's toilet, and secretly filmed two female guests showering.

Low Tian Sheng, 33, was jailed nine weeks yesterday for intruding into the privacy of the two women, aged 24 and 26, on May 25 last year.

He was at home with his daughter when he came up with the idea of recording the victims showering.

He first taped a piece of plaster over the LED light indicator of his Blackberry, to block out the blinking red light when the recording mode is activated.

Then, he proceeded to wrap the phone with a piece of white paper and masking tape.

He tore off a corner of the white paper, so that only the camera lens was exposed. Afterwards, he switched on the recording mode, and hid the phone in the false ceiling of the common toilet.

He managed to record the 26-year-old in the shower without her knowledge, but was later caught when the younger victim noticed an odd object on the false ceiling while she was showering.

After showering and putting on her clothes, she retrieved the object and found that it was a Blackberry.

She confronted Low, who was shocked and remained quiet.

The entire video clip lasted for nearly 30 minutes.

Low had committed two other similar offences in 2011, and these were taken into consideration during his sentencing.

He could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined for insulting modesty.
