SINGAPORE - Occasional hazy conditions may persist overnight and on Friday if winds continue to blow smoke haze from fires in Sumatra.

The 24-hr PSI range is expected to be in the high-end of the moderate range but may enter the low-end of the unhealthy range if the prevailing winds continue to blow from the south or southwest.
NEA said smoke plumes from hotspots in central and southern Sumatra have been observed in the past few days.
About 116 and 42 hotspots were detected on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
On Wednesday, 12 hotspots were detected in Sumatra. Singapore experienced slightly hazy conditions in the afternoon and as of 7pm Wednesday evening, the 24-hr PSI was in the moderate range of 62-68.
Reducing outdoor activities and physical exertion can help limit the ill effects from haze exposure. Persons who are not feeling well, especially the elderly and children, and those with chronic heart or lung conditions, should seek medical attention.
Given the air quality forecast for the next 24 hours, everyone can continue with normal activities, said NEA.
