SINGAPORE — The Opposition meeting to resolve potential multi-cornered fights in the coming General Election is off to a rough start with the Workers' Party (WP) a no-show and Reform Party (RP) chief Kenneth Jeyaretnam leaving shortly after it started.
Mr Jeyaretnam said SingFirst is insisting on contesting in Ang Mo Kio GRC, which RP has staked its claim. He said they will try to resolve this bilaterally, and if they are unable to, there will be a three-cornered fight.
As the meeting started this evening, representatives from the Workers' Party were not present. When contacted, WP's Yee Jenn Jong said the party would not be attending the meeting.

More of the same voice does not make good parliamentary debate even if they all come from different opps parties. Only one voice is the original while the rest will be seen as mere parrots. Go to WP rally, then go to SingFirst's and to SDP and so on.. they all will probably say the same things albeit they are expressed in different rhetorics.

That will not happen. PAP will not send anyone that is deemed unqualified and unfit to contest in the constituency as a potential MP. You can be assured that dogs are not allowed in the PAP list of candidates. Other parties may send chicks and ducks, but PAP will not. PAP will respect the constituents and bring on the best candidate to serve you better.
So, vote for PAP if you want good quality MP to look after your needs and represent you in Parliament.

You are rite. So will fap b holding the next meeting to discuss about 3 corner fights with dpp. SPP and scissor party.
After tasting nsp underhand tactic of conducting an inter party poll during the first round to see who gets to contest in mp GRC, it makes more sense for WP to boycott such meeting. In the first place there is no need for WP to attend the first round.
Hopefully this will set a precedent for WP not to attend anymore of such meaningless meeting in future GE.
