[h=1]PAP Gov to Opposition supporters: Let’s talk things out[/h]admin / 8 hours ago August 4, 2015

At his speech at the government feedback platform REACH, Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong now admits that his ruling party PAP government need to work harder to connect with “these people” to have a discussion:
“How do we then get the views of these people (who support the opposition) … have a discussion and forge a consensus to move forward?”

ESM Goh Chok Tong added that it is now not enough to have an one-way monologue by his Government, and that this time round it is going to be two-way:
“It’s going to be a two-way channel of conversation…and the Government needs to spend time explaining policies so Singaporeans can understand both the positive and negative effects.
The Government cannot walk away from the people, and the people cannot walk away from the Government. Both are together in this”
This contrasts greatly with the previous approach where, in 2012, Minister Lim Swee Say called Opposition supporters “vocal minority”:
“The silent majority, not that they don’t have any views, but… they’re less pro-active, less visible in expressing their views. That’s why we feel it’s very important… for our conversation to be truly inclusive. It should not just be a voice for the vocal minority, but it must also reflect the views of the silent majority,”

In one Parliamentary speech, Minister Lim Swee Say also akin himself to a “deaf frog”:
“We never give up. We are like the little frog. We are deaf to all these criticisms”

Robert TanThe government cannot walk away but the people can kick pap away out of government. The pap may be the government for now but the government is NOT the pap! Please don't explain any longer and hide behind your 2 way communication crap! It's bullshit and you know it! We will vote you out!!!

I think what Mr Goh and the ruling party should understand and accept that having Opposition is a NORM. People will vote for the Opposition - it's that simple. Discrediting or trying to "fix" the Opposition just ain't going to work.

The Government cannot walk away from the people, and the people cannot walk away from the Government. Both are together in this”... How can we walk away in the first place when we are always "force" into accepting your policies? You, the Government made them without our total consent and you expect us to stay in it? The CPF issue is already a good example! You could have just honoured your promise and returned them at 55. I am sure the Government can always look elsewhere to accumulate funds, keeping others hard earned money is inhumane and not right no matter how hard you try to justify your ...See More

Pinky wants him to retire but he refuses. Instead of waiting for Pinky to make announcement, Lau Goh makes his own - he is leading his team and who his likely members will be. He doesnt want the pregnant lady. Coz she will bring down his votes.

Mr Goh may spring many surprises.
Like a true blue Rafflesian, Mr Goh's heart is with the people.
If he can save Singaporeans, he will do it with courage.
Mr Goh needs all our support.
Workers Party please fart off from Marine Parade.

With the old fucker dead and gone, he is finally free to be his own man. As such, he's not going away anytime soon. At the same time, he is also aware that the ground is not sweet.
