What’s the past performance of our paper generals?

When you keep doing the same things, you get the same results.

So what were the past performance of our many paper generals in well-protected politics, very well paid GLCs and competitive private sector?

So far among all these pampered highly qualified, very smooth career paper generals since their “scholarship” days, not even ONE is outstanding in their post army career.

Not even one left for the truly competitive private sector, and prosper on his own. Not even one!

Among the many that were parachuted in government GLCs as CEOs or SVP, none was outstanding. Not one. Most are mediocre despite all the resources, opportunities and oligopolistic powers and advantages provided. Not even one outstanding. What a tragic!

Among the many who were parachuted into political office. All are Yes-men, and not even one spoke out against the White Population Paper against Singaporeans’ interests.

All put Party above people. What a tragic! Generals are supposed to have guts. Not even one has the guts to speak out or vote on their conscience all these years. At least Inderjit Singh, the businessmen MP is more righteous. He did not vote for it but absence himself.

Singapore will be more and more doom with more and more of our paper generals becoming political leaders or business leaders.

The late Mr. Goh Keng Swee and late President Ong Teng Cheong, etc are people with convictions and integrity. They spoke against the late Mr. Lee when they disagreed with the policy.

Singapore does not need more paper strawberry generals in business or politics.

Paper generals should remain in the army and be trained to have guts and be prepared for military conflicts in case that happened. They should be trained to fight wars. Not having second or third careers.

This is proper Defence principle for Singapore.

Good article. Paper generals, or even real generals are wired differently. Anywhere outside the military, they are like fish out of water. The Peter Principle says that a person will rise or gets promoted to his or her level of incompetence. The moment these jokers leave the military, one can safely say that they will be incompetent from there on. Just look at the mess these generals (from LHL onwards) have made to the country.

the problem with these generals is they come from the most incompetent and most useless company of all in any country,if the Singapore armed forces was a little tinsy bit competent and efficient and cost effective and worth a single shit, they would be making 13 billion dollars a year and not costing taxpayers 13 billion dollars a year,we pay these muthafarkers billions and billions every year so they can go have morning breakfast tea at 10am,lunch at 12pm,take a nap at 1.30 pm,go back to office to file some tps reports and update their powerpoint slides, meeting at 3pm,go down to the mess hall at 4pm to play some billard and go home at 5.30pm.

There is no need to speculate on their degree of incompetence.

Just look at the likes of these paper/toy generals in the ministries and you can draw the conclusion.

Look further at the clowns in the corporate world, and their incompetence is double-confirmed.

Okay, the "generals" to date are of lower quality : Clown Chuan Jin has one star, his former boss the inept Kee Chiu two stars and now we have a three-star general which is supposed to superior to the clowns we have so far.

Will the 3-star general see stars when he becomes a minister?

What do you think?

I rate our paper generals' performance as 'very high'. With them in charge, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand have no dared to challenge our borders. Even China knows better than to mess with us, and contends itself with bullying a fourth-rate country like the Philippines.

Their performances have been insignificant, to put it mildly. None of them has done or even said anything that is of any particular beneficial significance to the ordinary Singaporean. But they keep getting ministerial positions for the following reasons:

1. Keeps the military leaders happy and hopeful, and hence there will be practically no chance of a coup.

2. Sinkies are easily impressed and impressionable, many Sinkies will be impressed that so and so general has become a minister, thinking that they must be damn great in some way. Obviously, they are not.

3. Having spent their entire lives in the military, they tend to be of a certain mindset, i.e. obedient to their bosses and willing to take orders, less worldly and global in their thinking and analysis, lacking innovation and commercially viable ideas which will be of benefit to ordinary folk. They are hence not a threat to the pervasive groupthink pappy mentality. Look at Toothpick Zorro Lim for example, don't forget that he was a Colonel in the military before he went to EDB and then became a minister.

They hv not won any war///////////

"Generals" who have never been to war, let alone win one.

The former Chief of Army is now running a regulated union.

A "one-star" general has been transferred to a "soft" ministry - he confessed during his farewell interview that he did not know that the MOM encompassed so many facets. He must have thought that MOM was all about work permits. Even then he fcuked it up.

Another top former military man has screwed it up big time with his toy trains - and blaming the weather, the old equipment etc etc for his incompetence while writing himself bigger and bigger pay cheques.

3 stars Ah Ng's greatest feat thus far was to organize a funeral. Need we go on? Most others, organizing NDP is like returning victorious from a real war. Others? Leading SAF men to disaster hit regions.

I wonder why are military men constantly being describe to have the leadership abilities. When you work for a military organisation, the men below are bound by very strict rules and making them turn left or right cannot really be considered leadership. Leadership is someone who is able to make people below him/her do difficult things willingly.
