Desmond is handling this incident extremely well. The whole MRT technical team has been mobilised, SMRT has been forthright and timely in its updates and the problem is well on its way to being resolved.
He deserves a commendation and a bonus for his good work.

It's not a black or white scenario. In any complex system, there will always be imperfections. It's how we deal with the hiccups that separates the men from the boys.
Desmond is doing us proud and has risen to the occasion to resolve an issue that was not of his making in the first place.
De problems started years ago...cutting cost on maintenance for good looking p&l sheet. De system wasn't design for such high passenger load yet we are pushing it to de max.
Reason of breakdown is becoz of 1 faulty train...1 faulty train can stalled both ns and ew line...abit hard to believe leh...

Train service on the North-South and East-West Lines (NSEWL) will resume this morning (8 July 2015) at 5.30am but will operate at reduced speeds according to the following schedule.

Yup, to show good P/L, they cut cost that may have embedded a problem into the system which caus long term breakdowns, that they now find it difficult to eradicate. Just like our economic and social fabric now.
