Amos Yee given 4-week backdated jail sentence

The teen was earlier guilty of two charges - one for making offensive or wounding remarks against Christianity and another for circulating obscene imagery.

SINGAPORE: Teen blogger Amos Yee Pang Sang was on Monday (Jun 6) been sentenced to four weeks' jail, backdated to Jun 2.

Yee was found guilty of two charges - one for making offensive or wounding remarks against Christianity and another for circulating obscene imagery. A third charge, for the teen blogger's statements on the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew in a YouTube video, was withdrawn.

The 16-year-old has been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for the past two weeks to assess his suitability for a mandatory treatment order, after a doctor said that Yee may have autism-spectrum disorder.

His lawyer Alfred Dodwell on Sunday night confirmed reports that the blogger was in hospital. Yee has "not been eating well, perhaps loss of appetite or no appetite, understandably so and hence his blood sugar went down," he said.

The Court was daft to not have thrown out this case on Day 1.

If there's any capitulation it is the judiciary capitulating to the PAP mafia. :rolleyes:

The details are not out yet. But if it's just jail sentence, then everything goes according to Amos' script. The Court will have slapped its own face for talking at length about the need for probation blah blah blah.

Or is the Court waiting to catch Amos again when he turns 18?

Send him to remand , send him to IMH and then produce a report saying that he has Autistic. I be screwing all these civil servant and make them lose all their bonuses if i am LHL.

Amos Yee jailed for four weeks backdated, walks free from court

SINGAPORE - Teenage blogger Amos Yee was sentenced to four weeks in prison on Monday afternoon.

The 16-year-old has spent more than 50 days in remand to date and his sentence was backdated, meaning that he could walk free from court.

Yee was found guilty on May 12 of making remarks intending to hurt the feelings of Christians in an expletive-laden video and of uploading an obscene image.

Since his arrest in March, he repeatedly breached bail conditions and refused to speak to a probation officer.

He has been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for the past two weeks for psychiatric examinations, to assess his suitability for a Mandatory Treatment Order (MTO).

Under the law, anyone found guilty of making remarks with the deliberate intention of wounding the feelings of a religious group can be jailed for up to three years, or fined or both. Anyone convicted of electronically transmitting an obscene image can be jailed up to three months or fined, or both.

On Sunday, 500 people turned up at a Hong Lim Park event to rally for Yee's release.

I think the entire IMH thing was the PAP govt's attempt to give Amos a 下马威, to intimidate him into submission.

Obviously, that had backfired, to say the least. Amos ain't your typical balless, easily bribed, easily cowered Sinkie child. :cool:

The Gay Lord hands are tied. Since this happens in his most critical period, where his and his cronies PAY PACKETS and LIFE STYLES are threaten, obviously orders were sent down to end this messy affair quickly as possible, to the Gay Lord he thinking it is better for him to move away from this mess, win or lose as perceived by the public at large.

Of course, the Gay Lord initial plans was for Anus to accept probation, thereby the Gay Lord would retain his OVER LORD tightly over his serfs.

Anus is indeed a new breed , unseen by the Gay Lord as far as his Mathematical genius of a brain could remember. And unlike his father, who would take the very hard line stand on 'such nonsense' challenge to his rule, it was also where during that period, there would indeed be NO Anus Yee sprouting out.

With Sinkie individuals willing to 'sacrifice' everything they hold dear to challenge the Lee regime, it would not be long before such rule was be a long forgotten memory ,written in the annals of the tiny island.

Yee also has to go for mandatory counselling, which the teenager has agreed to.

Yee’s medical report said that he does not suffer from any mental disorders, but instead needs mentoring. Amos has agreed to counselling and mentoring from a doctor at Raffles Hospital.

'Treatment from pte doctors' is definitely a better way to 'seek treatment' than from crony medical experts in crony institution like IMH.

The pte medical experts would even agree with Anus that his former colleagues that remain in such institution, are indeed the ones that need to have ' themselves treated' so as to FREE their own minds.
