Jose Mourinho could be on his way to Manchester United Manchester United are "hours" away from making an announcement in relation to Jose Mourinho, a Sky Italia journalist has claimed.
Fans have consistently called for current manager Louis van Gaal to be sacked, and Mourinho has continued to link himself to the Old Trafford job.
United chairman Ed Woodward faces investors today, and there is chance the journalist is merely speculating that Van Gaal will face the sack afterwards.
But if the Dutchman fails to land either the FA Cup or lead his side into the top four on Sunday, that speculation could become a reality.

What's gone wrong with the English FA? The game at United was delayed for 45 minutes and the City game kicked off on the dot. C'mon guys. it's unfair to City!!! If anything they should kick off at the same time as they're both competing for the last CL spot.

Renato Sanches: Why Man Utd claims they passed on Bayern signing just embarrassing

COMMENT: Ed Woodward. Give us a break, will ya. Let's be serious about this...

If you believe the Manchester United side of things, Bayern Munich have signed a pup. Renato Sanches, according to United, just isn't worth the money. One claim had United dropping their interest in the Benfica tyro as far back as February. The other had Louis van Gaal dismissing the 18 year-old as being little more than a flash-in-the-pan.

So, let's tackle these claims.

First, if United had gone cold on Sanches almost four months ago, then why was Luís Filipe Vieira, the Benfica president, in Manchester a fortnight ago? On a shopping trip? Tribalfootball.com was informed a fee had been agreed - and for less than what Bayern has since paid (more on that later). The sticking point was the method of payment. Vieira was insisting on the bulk of the fee being paid up front. With debts of over €200 million, Vieira saw Sanches as a vehicle to draw that down. But Woodward, United's vice-chairman exec, insisted on a more traditional staggered deal. Vieira, as we see today, left empty handed.

The second claim; Van Gaal's decision to block the deal. Suggestions that Sanches isn't good enough. Seriously, United leakers, you need to do better than this. We're talking about Bayern here, not Bayer. Though Leverkusen have done quite well this season from LVG's decision-making, hey...?.....................................................

The writer probably didn't know that we have ample cover for DM position. We have Carrick, Schneiderlin. Basti and the youngster Fosu Mensah. My guess is LVG probably thought that we have too many players for that single position and probably felt that young Fosu will fit into that role. Bringing Sanchez in could potentially stifle the development of Fosu.

Carrick has no more than 20 games a season and Basti is unlikely to return and play at his best which leaves Schneiderlin as the sole DM option. Personally, Schneiderlin has been a huge disappointment this season. So much was expected of him but so little delivered. At times he appeared lost, bewildered and much to the fans chagrin, he failed to command the space around him. Where does that leave us? Playing with Carrick and Schneiderlin will leave us with the same result next season.

What we need is a pitbull terrier and Fosu or Sanchez comes to mind and we need someone who is a good passer like Xabi Alonso to help with the transition play. Dun expect the over rated, deadbeat and lazy Roon to fit that role. Until they remedy this deficiency, we will probably be faced with a brickwall as far as tactical options is concerned.

Mata, Herrera and Lingaard are similar type of players and let's not make the same mistakes the Gunners have made in the last 15 years.

Jose Mourinho told Manchester United job is his if Louis van Gaal leaves - Sky sources

By Andy Burton - Sky Sports News HQ

Last Updated: 17/05/16 11:07pm

Jose Mourinho has been told the Manchester United job is his this summer if the club's owners decide to sack Louis van Gaal, according to Sky sources.

Mourinho has confirmed Sky Sports News HQ's story from May 13 that he has no agreement in place yet with any club, insisting he is currently focused on "enjoying his life".
When asked to confirm whether or not there was an agreement in place with Manchester United, Mourinho stated "with nobody".

But Sky sources can reveal that Mourinho was speaking after attending a dinner meeting in central London with his agent Jorge Mendes and his lawyer, in which options for his next move were discussed.

Mendes offered no comment to Sky Sports News HQ when asked about Mourinho's future, and he left London on a flight late on Monday night.

However, Mourinho has been assured by Mendes that he will be back at a top club in July and, when quizzed about United in Mexico City last week, Mourinho confirmed: "I know nothing about it really. I don't have a club. In July, I will be back."

Manchester United have declined to comment.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports News HQ has been told there is no change to the situation regarding Paris Saint-Germain's interest in bringing Mourinho to the Parc des Princes to succeed Laurent Blanc.

Sky Sports News HQ reported on April 19 that the former Chelsea managerhad been approached by PSG immediately after their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Manchester City.

Mourinho's priority, however, was to wait and monitor events at Old Trafford before making a decision on PSG or any other job and it is understood that remains the case.

If the attendance last night is anything to go by, the fans want LVG out. Viewership has dropped dramatically and sooner rather than later sponsors will follow. It doesn't bode well for the club if the mgmt dithers on whether to keep him or sack him.

It will be interesting to watch the transfer market. I very much doubt if they can attract top players with LVG in charge. If they do come, we'd be paying well above the premium-Head or tail, we lose.

United dun need him. We have 3 similar type of players. Buy him n we're just wasting money.

If LVG continue even if we buy Neymar it's no difference to buying Shevchenko.

Neymar would be another bad buy. I've watched Barca's games. He has been good for a stretch but when Barca needed him most, the boy just couldn't raise his game. He's a show boater and i wouldn't be surprise if he gets into trouble in the premiere league. Besides, he's gonna cost us a bomb. We have Martial doing an outstanding job on the left n i doubt if Neymar can better the frenchman.

It's going to be commercially challenging if Utd retain LVG and we'll have problems in the transfer market.
Hoddle suggested that we get Koeman instead. Not a bad idea given the number of key players that he has lost over the season.

LOUIS VAN GAAL is set to be offered a job upstairs at Manchester Unitedopening the door for Jose Mourinho to be manager.
SunSport understands the Dutchman will be given a director of football role at the club.
That will see Van Gaal complete his three-year contract at the club and leave next summer.

Despite this seasons poor campaign Van Gaal remains popular with executive vice chairman Ed Woodward who still wants to use his vast footballing knowledge at the club.
But Woodward accepts there has to be change now in the managerial seat with Mourinho available.

The former Chelsea boss has rejected overtures from other clubs since being sacked by Chelsea in December as he wanted to wait for the Old Trafford hot seat to come free.
As first revealed by SunSport United were in touch with him almost immediately he left Stamford Bridge and those lines of communication have stayed open.
