Zdravko and Zoran Mamic are accused of embezzlement and tax fraud, though the club say they will stand by them

Dinamo Zagreb's chief executive Zdravko Mamic and his brother, coach and director of football Zoran, have been arrested on suspicion of corruption.

Croatian police raided the duo's homes on Thursday as part of the investigation before they were detained earlier on Saturday.

The pair are under investigation for tax fraud, while some reports allege that money was embezzled from the sale of Luka Modric to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008.

"They were stopped on the Croatian border and detained in the presence of their respective lawyers," Dinamo said on their website.

"After learning from their lawyers that Croatia's anti-corruption police unit (USKOK) wants them in investigative custody, Dinamo's chief executive Zdravko Mamic and coach Zoran Mamic decided to return to Croatia at once in order to co-operate with the authorities and prove their innocence.

"Dinamo's entire staff, the squad and all of the club's employees fully back them as we are convinced they will prove that they are innocent."

Dinamo, who won a 10th successive title last season, are preparing for the new campaign which is set to get underway next Friday.
