Dramatic footage has emerged of two teenage girls jumping into rescuers arms after a fire tore through their Atlanta home.
The girls were heard calling for help from a third-floor window after breaking the window. Neighbours who heard the screams coaxed them to jump out before they were overcome by the blaze.
The massive fire can be seen ripping through an apartment building in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta, Georgia, yesterday destroying 29 homes.
As the flames got higher and plumes and thick black smoke billowed into the air, the two girls were trapped in the bedroom.
One is caught by two neighbours after jumping head first, luckily escaping serious injury.
"I heard someone banging on the window -- you could see the window all broken, so we just ran over there and helped them out," said Deigo Silva, who caught the girls.
First on the scene was a cameraman for local news channel 11 Alive, who happened to be driving past.
He said he had just decided to drop the camera and help the girls when two young men arrived and beckoned them to jump down.
