A fren just died of cancer last mth, this mth anothe fren was diagnosed wit nose cancer both non smokers, cud it be the NEW WATER?

Probably victims of Spore's sick buildings.

Office buildings in Spore are air tight to prevent the escape of air con air. When you have such an air tight environment, people breath in all the stale air & chemicals from the carpeting, paints & coatings used on office furniture, ...

Excess newater from treatment plants are discharged into reservoirs, which are part of our drinking water sources.

it's inevitable that major metropolitan areas facing the prospect of severe drought need to recycle waste water for all kinds of use, from grey industrial use to potable use. so far in santa clara county the only remaining problem from recycled waste water for potable use is the elimination of pharmaceutical contaminants through the full process of sedimentation to multiple levels of filtration to reverse osmosis. to have totally pure water for potable use, the only method is distillation or nature's way of evaporation, cloudification, condensation, snow and rain. but for millions of thirsty folks in a county, it's better to die slowly from drinking recycled waste water than perish from thirst. everybody has to die anyway. :p

I merely stated to correct the info that newater is now a part in our drinking water system.
There were some jokers promoting waste water treatment plants, which could provide drinking water.
And they won the game and Pappies blindly announced the whole world and even put on show that newater is drinkable.
Technically we know the water is very inert and it damages almost everything Except some materials to withstand its corrosiveness.
Alternatively we would have chosen distillation plants as our drinking water source.
The distillation plants are proven and well suited to seaside countries.

Correct but the cost of distilling water to be potable water is too high compared to desalination. There is even technology to extract water from the air, which is actually the best solution for Singapore but again, costs right now are extremely economically unfeasible.

Or you could just pay a fair price to Malaysia for imported water, and stop subscribing to MFA's siege mentality paranoia about Malaysia cutting our water supply. Ooh, sacrosanct state sovereignty!

Oh, and don't put too many people on the island, more people = more water consumption. 4.0 million in 2004 became 5.5 million in 2015. That's a 37.5% increase under PM Lee Hsien Loong.

You got to the nub of the issue: PAP's beggar-thy-neighbour policies from water to the railway station to Pedra Branca, and the insane immigration policy.

Adopt a give-and-take mentality, pay a fair price for raw water, charge less for treated water (to M'sia), and it will be win-win. As it stands, resorting to NEWater, reverse osmosis and possible future desalination in an impossible bid to be self-sufficient has cost our taxpayers even more. Lose-lose. That's old fart's vindictive, dog-in-the-manger philosophy for you.

The decision is political and not economic.

don't worry. the uterus (marina barrage) and adjoining fallopian tubes (sg and kallang rivers) will hold about 30 million liters of rain and longkang water on any given day. that can support 6.9 million doing their 69 activities on a nightly basis.

They see the growing population as GDP growth, and keep their KPI high as well as their bonus.
What kind of mathematician (PM) we have as a leader?

We hope majority of our policy and decision makers are like you, a fair minded and can understand the other feeling.
What we have are book-smart, elitist minded, know-all attitude people who would see others as incompetent.
