SINGAPORE - A former administrative assistant who misappropriated more than $53,000 over a year was sentenced to 13 months' jail on Tuesday for forging cheques.
Angnes Tan, 26, was an administrative and accounts assistant at an architect firm when she committed the offences between April 2013 and March 2014.
She was responsible for preparing cheques and issuing them to consultants engaged by the company.
Tan would write the payee's names in pencil before getting the directors of the company to sign the cheques. She would then erase the payee's name and write in her own name before depositing the cheques into her bank account.
