I am writing to you for help.

My husband is 40 years old and was retrenched 3 months ago. He was working for HP which has an influx of Indian IT professionals.

Most of them with their unaccredited degrees are earning double of what he was earning. These are people with engineering degrees doing IT jobs.

We are Singaporeans but we have relatives in India who told us that engineering colleges are sprouting like mushrooms all over India. Anyone can start an engineering college in a shophouse.

And to pass out with a degree all you need to do is give some under table money. I don’t understand how our government can employ these people with degrees that have no credibility.

His last drawn salary was $4,300. My husband has 20 years of experience in the IT field. He has a private diploma in computer studies from Singapore.

He is a hardworking man and has many testimonials from his previous jobs. We have three children.

He has tried applying for many jobs but he only had 2 interviews so far.

I left teaching due to the medical condition of my children 14 years ago.

And at that time I could not find another job too.

My teaching diploma from NIE was useless. Seven years later, I upgraded myself in SIM to become a graduate but to no avail.

I have some specialized training and currently I am self-employed and running my business from home.

Could we meet you to discuss personally to see how my husband can find a job? Need your advice.

Her point is that many ft with fake degree are employed in Hp and her husband was displaced by the faker as he is only a diploma holder. Fakers with degree and mba will have edge over his dip. Moreover will ft employ ft.

90+% of what he learned in his diploma programme 20 years ago would be obsolete now. Has he been keeping up with the technology?
Q6. Did the company even tell him the technology developments for him to save $200 per mth to upgrade in the last 5 years? You are like blur Lim Swee Say - upgrade . . .but for what exact area, vacancy or company's plan?

I have worked in IT for over 30 years. I held a senior management position at a MNC (not HP) before I retired in my mid 50′s. If you can get my e-mail address from Gilbert may be I can try to help.

Singapore has one of the best trained & educated workers in South East Asia & still have. A place I used to work in for many, many years, were the training ground for PMET's from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei & Thailand, later it was India, Sri Lanka, even Hong Kong & Japan. I used to train staff from Brunei, Thailand, Malaysia & Japan . The organisation support & service center was for Asia & Pacific Regions, that covers Australia & New Zealand.

We the workers from Singapore were so proud to be SINGaporeans...with our education & training....until, from 1984, the floodgates were open to cheap, not to mention, lowly educated workers that flooded the country.

This organisation I once had pride working for & left...was 'infested' starting with Malaysian, Hong Kongers, then, came the dark coloured people, from INDIA...then Philippines.

We have people like what is described in the article, worked more than 30 or 40 years..replaced by these "deluge of filth"...how can you say that these hard working Singaporean are useless??, we once were the kings of SUPPORT & SERVICE in Asia, run entirely by Singaporeans?, no longer.

We have an useless government , who in the pursuit of money, sold the workers...:mad:

IT is a very demoralizing trade, you keep on studying but end up losing out to cheaper indian workers. the situation is not like that in HK, the local IT workers there are protected. no suh thing as Indian FT rubbish.

pfft, we were interviewing someone from HP india with years experiences in IT. Turns out the first question of Fibbonaci number stumped him. When you look thru the resume from someone from India, take it with a large grain of salt I say.
