Hello, any MBT can easily be defeated by foot soldiers in a built up area, just ambush the tank by blowing up the tank tracks with IED, and then one rpg from the top into the engine deck and your whatever MBT is dead, the US Army knows this and are now halting any new MBT development, just going along with upgrading. You sure you from armour or just big cannon fairy? Even if you from SAF armour don't come and talk to me, you are just a beer guzzling fat overweight tankee who cannot find a real job outside.

In Iraq there were Abrams that were hit by numerous RPGs but the missiles couldn't penetrate the chobham armour.
there are over 10000 abrams produced, but not all are in active service. if necessary, the u.s. can field more tanks than the russians at short notice. the dod budget is way beyond financial means of taxpayers.
There are more M1 than trained crew. There at least a div worth of armour in NATO under storage for rapid deployment. At least a regiment worth stored in ships that based on that island at Indian Ocean, Diego Garcia. South Korea should have another regiment worth. Then has to add also the M60 being store in depots belonging to the usmc.

Take the M1 Abrams for example, one of the toughest MBTs to kill, the engine is a jet turbine and therefore needs huge venting to let the exhaust escape, therefore the rear of the tank is slated and is extremely vulnerable to penetration from an advanced RPG, if an enemy soldier can get close from the rear and get a shot in, the tank is dead by being immobile, and this is a weakness of other MBTs in various areas of the engine compartment, some Abrams were even killed by advanced IEDs in Iraq, refute me with facts Mr Armour Regiment tankee. The days of huge MBTs are numbered, the future is wheeled strike vehicles or unmanned armored vehicles, cheap, fast and dispensable.
There are new tactics where immobile M1s in urban situations get 20mm rounds fired into the main cannon at close range in attempt to kill the crew, doable if the optics of the tank is destroyed and the crew are unable to see outside.

yes this is true,im no expert but from what i have read about the lebanon war,the Merkava tank is even more heavily armoured than the US tanks.But the hezbollah insurgents were extremely well trained by russian and iran operatives and knew all the weaknesses about the merkava's armor.on top of that,the russian rpgs and kornet missiles were extremely effective with up to 1300mm penetration rate of reactive armour.there was a case where a single kornet missile penetrated the engine compartment of two merkava tanks lined up with each other that was towing another and the crew of the first tank died while the other had to bail.with a penetration rate of over 50%(full compromise of armor integrity) in the lebanon war of all missiles that hit the tanks and a high fatality rate,its no wonder the israelis pulled out of the war quickly.same scenario happened in the gaza massacre,their merkava assualt was quickly repelled by rpgs and the israeli cowards had to resort to aerial bombardment of innocent civilians.tanks are almost useless in urban combat with the advent rise of the modern russian made rpgs since the 1970s.

Not exactly true. The US military system is based on National Guardsmen and Reserve units. These equipment are stored for them to be used in times of call up. Same for the IDF. At any one time, they have perhaps 1 full armour Brigade on duty. The rest of the tanks are also in storage ready to be crewed by Reservist in times of conflict.
