The teenage blogger remains in remand ahead of his trial, which starts on Thursday, May 7.

SINGAPORE: Teenage blogger Amos Yee's challenge of the conditions of his bail was dismissed by Justice Tay Yong Kwang in a bail hearing on Wednesday (May 6). He remains in remand.

The 16-year-old's lawyer had argued that the bail conditions, which forbid him from uploading or distributing any content online until his case has concluded, amount to a gag order.

However, the argument was dismissed by the High Court ahead of Yee's trial on Thursday and Friday. The bail conditions remain unchanged, with bail set at S$30,000.

Blogger Roy Ngerng and Yee's mum, Madam Mary Toh, were among those present at the bail hearing review on Wednesday.

The blogger faces a charge of making offensive or wounding remarks against Christianity and another of circulating obscene imagery.

Yee published two blogposts on Apr 29, in violation of his original bail conditions, a move which saw the bail raised from the original S$20,000, while family and youth counsellor Vincent Law discharged himself as his bailor.

bro, do we have telegram service?

We have, but telegram charges per word. So Vatican want to save money, might try to keep it short. Originally wanted to send "We are not offended", 4 words too expensive.

So may end up saying "Offended".

Below is the telegram Pope Francis sent Saturday for the earthquake tragedy in Nepal:

***

The Right Reverend Paul Simick
Bishop of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nepal

His Holiness Pope Francis was deeply saddened to learn of the earthquake and the resultant loss of many hundreds of lives in Nepal, as well as in neighbouring Countries. He expresses his solidarity with all affected by this disaster and assures those who grieve for deceased family members of his closeness in prayer. His Holiness commends the souls of the victims to the loving mercy of the Almighty and he offers encouragement to the civil authorities and emergency personnel as they continue their rescue efforts and assistance to those touched by this tragedy. Upon them all he invokes the blessings of the Almighty as a pledge of healing and consolation.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin
