Amos Yee's slapper - how come take so long to charge him?

A man (presumably the one who slapped Amos Yee) has been apprehended since last week. Why does the police take so long to file a simple charge of assault?

Don't tell me police got to investigate the slapper's postings on social media, check his computer for child porn etc?

Oh wait, the police is awaiting decision from the Men In White as to whether they can charge the slapper. Tio boh?
