Woman in viral video charged with hurting and using criminal force on condo manager

SINGAPORE - A woman was charged in court on Friday with assaulting a condominium manager, spitting and splashing liquid from a drink can at him.

Tang Lei, 47, a Chinese national, also allegedly hit Mr Colvin Quek Choon Kiat, 67, on his face and arms, causing bruises and abrasions over his forehead, at the Simei Green condominium management office at about 11.40am on April 28.

She was then with her sister, who has not been charged.

The incidents were recorded on video, posted online and went viral.

The women apparently had an argument with the condo manager over access cards.

Tang's lawyer Christopher Ravijit Singh Gill said he had just been briefed.

She is out on $10,000 bail and her passport has been impounded.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for June 10.

If convicted of causing hurt, she faces a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

The penalty for using criminal force is three months' jail and/or a fine of up to $1,500 per charge.

Chinese national Tang Lei, who is out on $10,000 bail, is accused of hitting the Simei Green condo manager on his face and arms.

One of two sisters who created a ruckus at a condominium management office was charged in court yesterday with causing hurt and two counts of using criminal force on the building's manager.

Chinese national Tang Lei, 47, is accused of hitting Mr Colvin Quek Choon Kiat, 67, on his face and arms, causing bruises and abrasions over his forehead, at the Simei Green condominium management office on April 28.

She is also said to have spat and splashed liquid from a drink can at him that morning.

The dispute apparently arose when the women wanted to apply for an access card to the condominium.

The incident was captured on video and went viral online.

Tang's sister has not been charged. Mr Christopher Ravijit Singh Gill said he had just been briefed and will be making representations.

Tang is out on $10,000 bail and her passport has been impounded.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for June 10.

The sinkie condo manager is 67 years old? They should fire him and find an FT replacement which costs far less to employ. I would have done so long ago, and the residents would be so happy at the costs savings, which can be passed back to them. Sinkies in their 60s should be content to work as security guards, table cleaners or driving taxis.

SINGAPORE - A second woman was charged in court on Thursday with assaulting a condominium manager and spitting on him.

Tang Bei, 47, a Chinese national, allegedly hit Colvin Quek Choon Kiat, 67, on his face and arms, causing bruises and abrasions over his right forehead, at Simei Green Condominium management office on April 28.

Her twin sister, Tang Lei, 47, had earlier been charged on May 15 for assaulting the condominium manager and splashing liquid from a drink can at him.

The incidents were recorded on video, posted online and went viral.

The dispute apparently arose over an application for a condominium access card.

A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for June 3.

Tang, who was represented by lawyer Wilbur Lim, was offered $10,000 bail.

If convicted of causing hurt, she faces jail of up to two years and/or a fine of up to $5,000. For assaulting or using criminal force, she may face jail of three months and/or up to $1,500.
