[h=1]IDA'S "PRESTIGIOUS" DEGREES FROM A "REPUTABLE" UNIVERSITY

IDA said that the factor contributing to Nisha Padmanabhan’s employment was “her Bachelor’s degree is from a reputable university” (University of Mumbai). A closer look at her LinkedIn profile says that her bachelor’s degree (Bachelor in Engineering) is from Fr. C.R.I.T, vashi, Mumbai. A google search shows that this stands for Father C Rodrigues Institute of Technology – which, according to the University of Mumbai, is an un-aided institute (serial no. 476 of http://www.mu.ac.in/colleges/ENGINEERING.pdf). This means the institute is affiliated to the University but receives no funds from the university.
FCRIT is a private, un-aided, minority, non-autonomous institute affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Also, according to Wikipedia, there are 54 engineering colleges in Mumbai
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colleges_in_Mumbai#Engineering_colleges).
So how prestigious is FCRIT?
This is India Today’s list of top 25 engineering schools
(http://indiatoday.intoday.in/bestcolleges/2014/readyrecnor_directory_list.jsp?Y=2014&ST=Engineering).
There are two schools from Mumbai ranked 20 and 25 – neither is FCRIT. Mind you these are rankings of schools just in India. Wikipedia has a collection of several rankings with some ranking even the top 80
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indian_engineering_college_rankings)
– still FCRIT does not make it. Finally, The Engineering Careers 360 does a rating of universities rating institutes as AAAAA (exceptional), AAAA+ (outstanding), AAAA (very good), AAA+ (Good), AAA (Above average), AA+ (fair), AA (average), A+ (pass) and A (Improve)
In this list, if you look at schools in Maharashtra
(http://www.engineering.careers360.com/articles/top-engineering-colleges-in-maharashtra-2014),
you will find that Fr. C Rodrigues Institute of Technology is ONLY rated AAA (above average), yes “ABOVE AVERAGE” or ranked 5 on a 9-point scale.
Also, some google results show feedback from students who have studied there. Like this one

“There is no trace of doubt in my mind that the faculty (at least for Information Technology Department) is BAD. And I’m not joking or exaggerating or saying this merely for the sake of it. I have spent 3 years here and I know for sure that with a countably few exceptions, the staff sucks.”
“Teaching is analogous to putting up slides of chapters on the OHP (overhead projector) and reading out the contents.”
“This place is suitable for low-life losers, underdogs, geeks and people who have made a career out of ass-kissing.”

“The Basic outlook of the faculty at Agnels (or Mumbai Univ. too for that matter) is to churn out ‘average’ engg. graduates.”
Have standards in Singapore dropped so much that an institute that is rated “average” or “above average” in India is considered “prestigious” in Singapore?
Disappointed Singaporean
