Last 5mins before the documentary ends , one guy ask will Singapore legalized cannabis !!!

I didn't watch the clip (unable to access youtube videos at office). Singapore is unlikely to legalize pot, but I see the possibility of the weed being decriminalized if the present legal status of marijuana takes shape across North America. Currently, I think two states in the US allow recreational pot use, with many more allowing it for medical, and is set to grow. The public there has more or less accepted pot as harmless and the new generation sees it use as a mainstream activity. Singapore does not have a ganja industry and will not profit from it, but once it is openly used elsewhere in the world, as global city, Singapore will have to loosen the legal noose on pot and close an eye to consumption. So, legalization no, but decriminalization, possible. However, do not go rushing to get your stash yet, by all accounts, it is still classified as an illegal contraband now. Get caught for pot, you get thrown in jail.

Not only thrown in jail but you can hang. Ridiculous.
But even holland is tightening its reinforcement of the recreation use.....
The last time I was in Amsterdam the police were fast and very efficient to enforce the law though no arrest or charges.

Yup. The laws governing marijuana are overkill for this mild weed, which grows easily in the wild. It's time the authorities worldwide relook at them. In most countries, it is illegal and one could be thrown in jail for it, but in some of these countries, the cops won't bother (they probably smoke it themselves during off-hours, or their kids use it) and the laws can be quite lax, but still, the courts reserve the right to prosecute anyone found guilty. The sooner they legalize it, the better. Taxes can be collected for the sale and the proceeds go into something worthwhile for the community, else, the only ones who profit from it are the underworld organizations, and ordinary otherwise lawful citizens get busted and tossed in the slammer!

Actually, once it is legal and easily obtainable, it loses it novelty appeal and its use might decline.

Singapore government is always a follower to the west when comes to major decision to shape the law . Legalized medical cannabis makes economic senses . We can also create new jobs for agriculture which no ones wanted to work , we can create artist and creative people if people consume cannabis , we can create many new business opportunities for example selling cannabis related products such as bongs , pipes , vaporizer ,cannabis magazines, we can even organized cannabis events like 4/20 in cananda , create jobs in medical industry....ect . It's a muti billions industry for cannabis . Singapore government should really consider that . But I guess mostly is because of politics, they worry if they legalized cannabis they won't be getting any votes for elections .

The media also play an important role to educate the public about the truth in cannabis . So far there's not a single documentary on national TV about using cannabis as medication .

It only takes about 5-6 months to havest a cannabis plant . And Singapore is a summer country so it makes it easy to grow cannabis and profit from it . The government should consider the medical and financial prospect of cannabis plant . Imagine we can use pulau ubin island to cutivate the medical plant .

Singapore government only think of opening the casino which is harmful to the society to generate money and make Singaporean pay for all the taxes . Why can't the government think out of the box to generate income at the same time saving people life and create job and create creative people ? America have already taken the first step to make full use of the plant .

Two days ago, was the annual 420 event. Pro-pot legalization supporters were out in force gathered in front of their city's parliament/courthouses to publicize their statement. This movement has been growing worldwide. FYI.

ps. 420 is the code used for marijuana. Years ago, a couple of college students in the US gathered around 4:20 pm at the end of the school day to smoke pot, the term caught on and on 20 April every year, pot activists amass in some area in their city and openly toke up in defiance of the law.
