I wouldn't gauge a govt's performance based on FX strength. Malaysia is corrupted while Indonesia is in good leadership now but both FX collapsed hand-in-hand.

Using Australia as an example, their interest rates fell to a record low (maybe further cuts next month) while our 3M-SIBOR surged from 0.3% to 1.02% within a year (SOR increased from 0% to 1% concurrently). Likewise, Thailand's military govt also reduced interest rates.

So tell me, are Singapore's citizens or property investors are better off than Australians or Thais? I guess, not necessarily.

In short, the FX movement in 2015 is more about currency-war.

One thing I know, holidaying in sg has become much more expensive for me whereas holidaying in aust for a sinkie has become much more cheaper. Sg sibor can surge to 1%+ but aust home loan rate is still over 4%+. Sg property market is firm and aust major cities house prices is still surging.
