'Well-known' to people in the tertiary education business. Not to your average Sinkie employer. The temptation is very great, to able to buy an MBA without working for it so as to pad up your résumé.

Agree. Note: There's a difference between a bona fide degree that's not accepted (e.g. the Singapore govt only recognizes medical degrees from a handful of overseas unis), and fake degrees bought from degree mills. The latter is cheating. No difference from printing your own cert.

The current situation reminded me of a similar case during my school days. During an exam, a classmate was caught with some answer scripts in his pocket. He claimed that he was revising in the bus on the way to school and had forgotten to clear them from his pocket. He further claimed that none of the answers was relevant to the questions, so there was no way that he could have cheated. The school's decision then was that though he couldn't have cheated, but his intention to cheat was clear as the folded paper was quite bulky and he should have noticed them. Furthermore, candidates had been warned before the start to make sure that they did not possess any unauthorized materials.

Why is Ida reacting so differently now? Most probably because they were too embarrassed by the mistake. In their desperate attempt to save face, they failed to recognise that the intention to cheat is just as bad as the actual act of cheating.

Such public clarification is usually cleared by more than one person and it is sad that none of them see the weakness in the excuse.

Maybe she had not submitted the mba to Ida when she applied for the job. Even then, the fact that the mba is now being posted in public site, as a form of credential for the person's qualification, highlighted an intention to cheat. Therefore, the logical response should be to look into the issue as it reflects "the conduct of an employee". What is happening to our civil service?

I think ICA shud check her citizenship application to see if she posted her fake MBA in it,,,,,,,, if so she shud hv her citizenship removed immediately and criminall charges filed against her for dishonest declaration

hR directors are too friggin lazy...... in Sing Poly there were a few cases of fake degree holders getting jobs but much later got caught accidentally
highly paid directors are simply not doing their jobs n CEOs or Princiapals do not care

If you earned a degree from a 4th rate university, it's still a valid degree. Whether your employer recognizes it is another thing.

If you bought a degree from a degree mill, it's a fake degree. No different from Indians buying driving licences online for $50. Or my using Print Shop to print my own diploma cert. That's fraud, because you're declaring false qualifications.

I really don't think it's that. They probably make u go thru some test, study materials etc. obviously a loose process but there's some process. That's how most scams operate. Are you sure you send TT they send back cert? Did you bother to check why the Malaysian Chinese and so many others got fooled? Or that's OK?
