[h=1]SINGAPOREANS PETITION FOR A LEE KUAN YEW STATUE TO BE BUILT[/h]
Post date:
27 Mar 2015 - 6:43pm

A Singaporean family have started a petition calling on a statue to be built to honour Lee Kuan Yew. Here is what they wrote on the petition page:
Losing Lee Kuan Yew is the greatest heartbreak for Singapore. People can say whatever they like but they can never disagree that he was the pillar and foundation of this nation; a true leader who had propelled the nation massively forward.
In living memory of Lee Kuan Yew, the father and soul of Singapore, we hope to gather fellow Singaporeans to join us in this petition - in hope to make a proposal to the Singapore government to build a statue of Lee Kuan Yew. Its location shall be decided by them. We will duly respect the final decision and outcome of this petition.
Thank you for your signatures and please, do help us spread the word.
P.S.: No donations or whatsoever required! It appears that after submission, a request for donation pops up. IGNORE!
Khoo Family

The petition which has since received 2260 signatures also saw comments supporting the move. Organisers wrote this at the 2000 mark:
And we've hit the 2000 mark  thank you for your kind support! Not too sure if we'd hit the target but let's do our best. It's worth the shot. Looking through your comments, yes we agree that this would be good for the future generations of Singaporeans to remember his passion and work for our country, including fellow friends from all over the world when they visit SG. I would think anything of a tangible trace of LKY in SG would be good because tangibility is more visible, believable and easily remembered. I mean, seriously... Do you recall the school excursions to Sir Stamford Raffles statue - where our teachers educated us about how he had found and established SG? That's how it should be with LKY's too. Educational, inspirational and an everlasting memory.
Do you think this is a good idea?

Local celebrity Ann Kok shared a photo on her Instagram of a Singapore $100 note with Mr Lee Kuan Yew's face on it.
While she did not offer any explanation when she shared the photo, she tagged it with multiple hashtags, all in praise of Mr Lee:
Her instagram post:

There have been mixed reactions about it with some saying it was a good idea while others said that it was disrespectful and not funny.
The photo was also shared on her facebook page, however, after receiving many negative comments, it was removed:

I say why not? Those who like LKY can go there to kowtow him. Those who dun like him can go pee on him.

Everybody happy.

Excellent idea. It should be built over where Hong Lim Park once stood. Anyone who wants to talk rot, can meet him in the cul-de-sac.

If Ann Kok () has a middle name (pinyin is "Shū Xián" (贤), right?), is it "Suk"?

Should be about the size of statue of liberty in new York. That should bring in the tourist dollar from those who worship him. It will be like mecca with millions coming in to celebrate his birthday or something.

hasnt the law been broken with that particular image of the $100 note?
Not if she was under indirect and secret instructions from LHL, to test the reactions of Sinkies!
Because I doubt such a famous actress would dare to break the law...
