[h=1]DON’T CAST SYMPATHY VOTES NEXT ELECTION, VOTING IS ABOUT THE FUTURE[/h]

Stick to your guns during the next GE, don’t cast sympathy votes.

Don’t cast sympathy votes just because someone has died. That someone ended being irrelevant long after his tenure had ended. That person is not in charge already Now, we are under someone else. And that someone else is not LKY.

Remember, we have someone now in charge and we, you, me are all along fighting against his views and policies. The current government in itself. Remember, voting is not about sadness, sympathy or because of the past. It is the now that matters, and the future, children, and grandchildren of us that benefits from our decisions.

Remember the transport gaffes, the highest paid salaries in the world, amongst others by the incumbent? This should not be what our government stands for. Rather, it should be a government that stands for the people. PAP has lost its way since 1959 when it was elected to stand for the people. Today, we need someone else to take the baton and rule for the people.

Our country is stagnant, and we need someone with a sense of true leadership to step up. Do your part this GE and stand fast to your votes, whatever the situation. LKY’s death changes nothing. Only you can change something.

A risky move by pap if they ever call for a snap election banking on sympathy votes. Problems are still abound, transport issue, overcrowding of hospital, PMET jobless etc all have yet to be settled.
If opposition can refocus voters attentions back to these problems, PAP will find themselves on the defensive with very little ammo to fight back.

Pragmatic middle ground will vote for their future than for the sake of a dead man. People who are incline to vote pap out of remembrance of lky are usually those gullible type who in any case will likely vote pap.

I think the likelihood of by-election in TP GRC is greater than snap election. A win in TP GRC is a foregone conclusion. Victory means pap can undo their defeat at PEBE and boost morale. The bigger the winning margin, the better for pap as it enables the party to enter the next GE from a position of strength.

Problems? There will always be problems, even if we call an election 10 years from now. Will they be gone a year from now? Strike while the iron is hot! That is what the late Prime Minister would have done. Lesser men would tarry.

The Opposition can stop the sympathy votes with a carefully crafted narrative. There are enough screw-ups by the PAP for the Opposition to draw on for the narratives.

If the Opposition can't win this election, then they deserve to be in the doghouse.

I was watching the TV and saw a card written "Forever grateful". Lots of sympathy votes possible.
