7 years’ jail for man who strangled, raped, poisoned and knifed ex-lover

24-year-old Kenneth Aw first strangled his ex-lover, tried to stuff her into a suitcase, poisoned her with air freshener liquid, raped her and then slashed her.

A court here today sentenced a man who carried out a string of attacks on his Malaysian ex-girlfriend, including rape, to seven years’ jail and six strokes of the cane.
The Singapore Straits Times reported that 24-year-old Kenneth Aw first strangled the woman, also aged 24, tried to stuff her into a suitcase, poisoned her with air freshener liquid, raped her and then slashed her with a knife.
The daily reported that Aw pleaded guilty to rape and causing hurt to the woman by means of poison.
According to the facts of the case, the couple met in October 2012 while she was working as a sales assistant at a shopping centre in Johor Baru, Malaysia.
They started seeing each other even though she was married with one child. Between November 2012 and June 2013, she moved to Singapore to stay with Aw.

However, they split up in June 2013 and she moved back to Johor Baru, but he threatened to look for her and her family there.
The daily reported that she then met him and went to his Jurong West flat, where she stayed three days.
When she told him she wanted to go home, and tried to leave, Aw tried to suffocate her with a pillow, then strangled her.
She became unconscious and he tried to revive her. Thinking she was dead, he tried to stuff her body into two suitcases
At that point in time, he decided to die with her. He poured air freshener liquid into her mouth, causing her to vomit.
While changing her clothes, he became aroused and raped her.
He then cut her wrist and stomach before cutting own his wrists and drinking air freshener liquid.
The woman later left and lodged a police report against him.

forget about rape or near-necrophilia. attempted murder charges by themselves should warrant a stiffer sentence. sinkie courts have gone soft. most likely changi chalet is becumming too expensive with high rent. :p

A man who carried out a string of frenzied acts on his former girlfriend, including rape, was yesterday sentenced to seven years' jail and six strokes of the cane.

Kenneth Aw, 24, first strangled her, tried to stuff her into a suitcase, poisoned her with air freshener liquid, raped her, then slashed her with a knife.

His victim is a 24-year-old Malaysian woman who is married with a child, evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported.

They met each other in 2012 and she moved to Singapore to stay with Aw between November 2012 and June 2013. They had a sexual relationship.

They broke up in June 2013 and she moved back to Johor Baru, but he threatened to look for her and her family there.

She moved back to Aw's flat in Jurong West for three days under duress, but wanted to leave again on June 24, 2013.

Enraged, Aw pressed a pillow to her face, then strangled her. She became unconscious and he tried to revive her, but she did not respond.

Thinking he had killed her, Aw called two friends and asked them to help him dispose of her "body".

He tried twice to put her into a suitcase, but she would not fit.

He then decided to die with her. He poured air freshener liquid into her mouth, causing her to vomit.

While changing her clothes, he became aroused and raped her. Finally, he slashed her wrist and stomach.

Laying down beside her, he slashed his wrists, drank air freshener liquid and took a pill.

But after some time, the victim regained consciousness and wanted to leave. Aw agreed. She went back to Johor Baru and, a day later, she returned to Singapore to make a police report.

The victim also found out two days after the incident that she was pregnant, but it is not known who the father is. She is understood to have given birth to the child.
